My whole experience of my being admitted to and treated at the Spire Hull and East Riding Hospital recently was amazing. I chose to have my surgery undertaken by Mr Jagdish Gandhi. Although I knew very little about this gentleman, apart from having being told by a former patient of his, that he was an expert in his field and a very caring and understanding man. All of the aforesaid was absolutely true.... On my initial consultation with Mr Gandhi, he took the time to explain exactly what would happen during my operation and the care I would receive before and after. I felt any fears I had totally fade away and I relaxed and felt completely at ease. I was fully confident that in Mr Gandhi I had made the right choice of surgeon to carry out my operation. Having undergone a number of operations in different hospitals over the years I can honestly say that my experience at the Spire Hull Hospital from my pre-surgery appointments to my actual admission, my operation, my recovery, nursing care, and follow up appointment .... was second to none. I would like to convey my sincere thanks to Mr J Gandhi who really is an expert, the Theatre staff who were wonderful and the always caring hard working Nursing staff who were there for me both night and day....always with a friendly smile and a cheery word....my thanks to you all. Marilyn Hewitt *The only improvement needed to the hospital and grounds is the car park (and I understand this is currently being addressed).

Mr Gandhi gave me the confidence to have the 2 prolapse repairs ,novasure and kink in my bladder straightened after having a euro dynamics tests with him. I immediately felt I trusted his judgement and liked him! He explained throughly at the consultation giving me material to read and research at home. He was honest and thorough even drawing diagrams! I was offered on 2 or 3 occasions surgery more quickly within the pool. I held out for MrGandhi. His secretary was also very accommodating in helping me choose a slot which would suit my job/family ,even offering me a cancellation. I was very nervous about the procedure ,Mr Gandhi, all of his team and the nursing staff were amazing in their care in a very busy environment. It was painful in recovery but I was cared for well meeting Mr Gadhi after surgery to be reassured again. My follow up today was excellent,all my questions were answered ,I was advised appropriately in how to avoid future surgery. The experience with the nhs has been fantastic .Thank you. A relative had the same op privately, my care and information given was more thorough in some instances! I cannot fault Mr Gandhi or his overworked team in any way! My only criticism was my pre op appointment where I was frightened rather than reassured. I have followed this up to hopefully avoid other patients experiencing this.

Mr Gandhi was patient, caring and helpful. He explained why the appointment was slightly late and explained procedure with me. Mr Gandhi was courteous and ensured I understood what was happening and what my diagnosis was. I received lots of advice and information and I realised that I too needed to take responsibility for my lifestyle to work alongside medication. At all times I felt respected and listened to. Now I feel I have the confidence to undertake exercises, make lifestyle changes etc alongside medication. This is a very thorough and helpful consultant and NHS service.
