I received a full hip replacement from David Hartwright. The care I received was second to none. A few things in particular stand out for me; David was honest and transparent with me about the surgery. He told me that the first couple of weeks post surgery are hard. He didn't sugar coat it and managed my expectations well. I was well prepared for this and it made it easier knowing that in reality I needed to just get the 1st 2 weeks over and done with and then I would improve day by day. This is exactly wat happened and I do feel forewarned is forearmed! David also told me not to be brave and take the pain medication on offer - sensible advice! I am now 6 weeks post surgery and have a new lease of life. My grinding, debilitating pain I had has all gone and I am able to walk unaided and not reliant on crutches. Yes I still have some healing to do, I need to build my strength back but if you commit to the exercises given to you you simply do get better each and every day. I am also eternally grateful for the neat scar which is much smaller than I anticipated. David was also very attentive, listened to my questions and took time to talk through any queries I had and made sure I understood the procedure, which I very much appreciated. All in all - I would absolutely recommend David to anyone with hip pain needing surgery.

I have had both total knee replacements done by Mr Hartwright From chatting in theatre ( both ops being performed whilst i was awake, to the aftercare I really cannot fault this man.I had great problems with both of my knees severe pain unable to walk far or stand for too long but now feel amazing I am six weeks post operation, I can walk inside and outside with no problems. My stay in hospital was a little less than two full days and with one crutch and a bannister i was able to climb the stairs and sleep in my own bed the day after the operation Mr Hartwright took the time to call me and explain how things work and he was true to form.I cannot express my gratitude enough to this wonderful doctor for giving me back the proper use of my legs His theatre crew were amazing and even the secretary Polly.

My experience as a NHS patient was excellent and at the highest standard.. Mr D Hartwright performed my right hip replacement on the 8th of February 2024 and want to say thank you for the excellent care before my surgery and postoperative. Must say I totally recommend and can’t praise highly enough. I also want to thank his team the Anaesthetists Nurses who were involved during my operation. My quality of health is greatly improved along with my mobility. Heather Ann Bray ex-RGN and District Nurse

I have nothing but praise for Mr Hartwright and his staff, I didn’t have to wait over long for my operation, and once in the hospital, everything happened so efficiently, and all his people who dealt with me were so cheerful friendly and proficient. The ward staff, the anaesthesia department, the x-ray staff, and physiotherapists. We’re all brilliant. I must make a particular mention of the physiotherapists doing the follow up appointments, they were very very helpful. They are all obviously working as part of a very happy and efficient team, lead by Mr Hartwright.

I received excellent care from Mr Hartwright who has performed 2 x total hip replacements for me over a 2 year period. I was nervous about the procedure but he instilled great confidence and I am totally delighted in the results. After years of daily pain I do not even think about my hips at all now. My advice to anyone thinking about having this procedure is to stick with the daily exercises even though they can be painful in the very early days, taking pain killers ahead of the exercise will also help. Also, keep moving, do not sit in a chair for long periods, get up and walk around house every 30 mins.
