I cannot fault the treatment I received from Mr Hartwright and also from his first class team. Right from the initial hip replacement consultation I was impressed by his clarity, honesty and most engaging manner. I felt totally confident going forward for the operation. Thanks to Mr Hartwright's excellent skills the procedure was a resounding success. I am now pain free and mobile. Thank you so much

Had a painful knee for some years and it finally got too painful to endure. I was referred to Mr Hartwright and saw him at out patients where after looking at X rays he recommended a total knee replacement. He explained that it would only get worse and was already in a poor state. He explained what this would entail. I was given a list of exercises to do prior to operation. On the day of operation everything was explained to me and that I could have operation with spinal injection if that was my wish. Operation went really well and I am more than pleased with the result. Saw physios twice since op and given more exercises to do. Saw Mr Hartwright yesterday and discussed the way forward. Excellent surgeon who made everything clear before and after operation. He made me feel confident about procedure and am really pleased with the outcome, Thankyou.

Mr hartwright explained all my options to myself and partner very clearly and honestly. The after care was also great. I had been on a weight loss journey for a year and a half before seeing Dr Hartwright, and my first meeting with him he was very honest and told me he couldn’t give me a hip replacement because of my high bmi. This was really upsetting, but we talked it through and he gave me some information that made all the difference. The NHS Commissioning Panel was an option that I didn’t even know existed before meeting with him - my gp never told me, and neither did any other medical professionals. Applying to them meant that as long as I continued on my weight loss journey, I could potentially get surgery even with a higher bmi than was usually allowed, given the debilitating nature of my pain. I’d had osteoarthritis for 12 years that had eaten away at my hip to the point that I was in constant chronic pain, my quality of life had reduced significantly and I was unable to do pretty much anything, which of course made it far more difficult to lose weight, as exercising was agonising. A year later, December 2024, he got the go ahead from the board and agreed to do the operation, which took place in February 2025. During my stay at hospital, everything was amazing and all the staff were wonderful, and since the operation my life has totally transformed. It’s hard to describe the enormity of the change, but I am pain free for the first time in over a decade, and I can do things again. I can do what I want, my body is still adjusting to the new lease of life but my mental health and quality of life have soared. I feel really positive about my future. I started at 26.5st and I’m now 17.5st - I can finally exercise daily, which is life changing. Mr Hartwright is a lovely man, and I will forever be grateful for his compassion and honesty. I feel he truly understood the situation I was in, went above and beyond in informing me about the Commission Panel, and his skill has transformed my life. I would absolutely recommend him. My scar has also healed wonderfully, and is very neat.

Hip replacement op performed well. Within few weeks walking fairly normally and now after 2 years don’t notice that I’d had a hip replacement; walking and normal activities involving hip painless and easily accomplished. Annual check involved face to face consultation which was reassuring and helpful. Approachable and caring professional approach.
