My 15 year old daughter who has Type 1 diabetes injured her knee playing football. Following an MRI and a consultation in Cambridge it was confirmed that she had torn her ACL and needed surgery. Unfortunately the nuffield hospital were not prepared to allow the operation to go ahead in their Cambridge hospital due to her Type 1 diabetes and her age. Therefore we had to find a new consultant who was a specialist in knee and sports injuries and a hospital that was prepared to operate. We expected a further long delay before the surgery. We contacted Mr Gupta two weeks before Christmas, and his secretary gave us an appointment on Mr Guptas 1st day back in the new year. Mr Gupta reviewed her MRI and was able to offer a surgery date in Mid January, which was much sooner than we expected. Mr Gupta was excellent with my daughter on the day of the surgery and put her at ease. The surgery went well and her ACL and knee is now stable and is returning to full training and playing approx 11 months post surgery. We highly recommend Mr Gupta as a specialist knee surgeon

My Son sustained a knee injury when he was 9 years old. Sadly no amount of physio was having any impact and my Son went from being an active boy to a child who at times could barely walk. After 18 months of visiting various different consultants we were referred to Mr Gupta. Mr Gupta immediately booked James in for an ACL reconstruction and miniscus repair. He took great care with James, especially given he was so young at the time. James' knee is now very stable. He loves sports, particularly rugby and his knee has not given way at all since the surgery. We are extremely grateful to Mr Gupta. He is a true expert but not only that he is invested in his patients and clearly cares deeply about his work and his patients. Thank you.

My son has been struggling for months, and GP was suggesting to take Nurofen only. No X-ray, no other investigations. I went to Mr. Chinmay and he fixed the problem. He suggested physiotherapy instead of surgery (which was the advise from another surgeon). He worked closely with physiotherapist and my son now resumed all his physical activities, including football. I can't thank the consultant enough!

Listened and explained and addressed my questions. Felt I could put my daughter’s care safely into his hands.

Having suffered repeated knee dislocations for a decade I was advised to see Mr Gupte for his opinion on if it could be corrected by a number of his fellow orthopaedic consultants. I'm am thrilled that I did, I left our initial consultation with a clear plan ahead with all options and risk clearly explained in a calm and patient way. Following MRI and return consultation I underwent mpfl reconstruction surgery. The the scars from the surgery are now hardly noticeable, full range of motion restored, complete stability for the kneecap all without any lingering pain or other complications. I have returned to a more active lifestyle and taken up playing squash. My only regret is not having started this process with Mr Gupte years ago.
