Mr Agrawal treated me for ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) and an invasive cancer with a mastectomy and reconstruction. From the first meeting he acted swiftly and seriously with the appropriate balance of reassurance and pragmatism. His confidence and level of expertise made an enormous difference to the outcome of my treatment and immediately made me feel much more postive about the personal difficulties that would lie ahead. He outlined my diagnosis and prognosis and answered my questions with authority and very significant knowledge but he was also personable and warm. The treatment and support I received from the nurse Gwynedd was also extremely professional and very caring. I am very grateful to them both.

Mr Agrawal has been doing my cancer checkup for the last few years. I like that he has looked at my notes before I come in, so that he isn’t scrabbling around with papers and can hence concentrate on what I say. He listens and is friendly and empathetic. Additionally, he seems to be keeping up with the latest research. I trust his advice

I had my first consultation with Mr Agrawal and immediate put at ease. Details of my diagnosis and treatment options were presented clearly and concisely with my understanding checked throughout. My questions were fully answered and I have a very clear view of the potential options available to me and the next steps in the process. Mr Agrawal was professional, friendly and approachable and I felt fully involved throughout the consultation. He is very highly regarded in his field and I am confident that my treatment is in excellent hands.

Profile

As a fully trained Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon, I carry out regular diagnostic fast track breast clinics and a full range of breast surgery, including sentinel node biopsy with intra-operative analysis, oncoplastic surgery and breast reconstruction. I also have a special interest in and undertake surgery for skin cancer.

I graduated from the London Hospital Medical College, University of London. My general surgical training was based around several centres of excellence in managing breast diseases, including The Royal Marsden Hospital where I developed oncoplastic techniques to optimise the cosmetic outcome of breast surgery.

I have always been interested in cancer surgery, and as part of my higher surgical training at the University College London, I was awarded a master's degree for my research into Gene Therapy for the prevention and treatment of cancer.

In 2007 I was appointed Consultant Surgeon at Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust. I have been the Clinical Lead/Head of department for the Breast and Endocrine Surgery and Surgical Oncology department for Portsmouth for over 10 years. I have also chaired and lead the Breast Multidisciplinary Team at Queen Alexandra Hospital for over 7 years.
