Mr.Avi Agrawal, Was most informative and swift to arrange necessary treatment and further investigation. He has a most friendly and interested personality and makes you feel quite relaxed during an examination. Following an examination he was quick to arrange further follow up scans and biopsy to be followed by analysis of results of same. I feel quite confident I`m in good hands.

I have met Mr. Agrawal on three occasions - diagnosis of my condition, post op consultation and discussion of further treatment. On each occasion I have found Mr. Agrawal's manner to be objective, thorough and knowledgeable. Despite the undoubted demands on his time, Mr. Agrawal has encouraged questions and taken care to address them fully. It is clear why Mr. Agrawal holds the position as Head of Department and his experience and leadership are reflected in the attitude of his staff. I will always be grateful to have Mr. Agrawal's support, empathy and passion for excellence fighting on my side during my illness.

Mr Agrawal and his team have been instrumental in getting me through my skin cancer operation and after treatment. Without their care and patience, and always making me feel that I could approach them at any time I would have struggled more when dealing with my diagnosis. I feel confident with all my check ups that I am getting the best care. I would totally recommend Mr Agrawal and his staff.

For the past five years Mr Agrawal has been my breast cancer consultant and my treatment has ranged from check-ups to a mastectomy. He is always calm, efficient and friendly. My mastectomy surgery was excellent and I am very pleased with the result. I really appreciate his kind and highly professional care and the help he has given me in making decisions at a difficult and emotional time. He explains things clearly, listens to questions patiently and always inspires confidence.

Profile

As a fully trained Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon, I carry out regular diagnostic fast track breast clinics and a full range of breast surgery, including sentinel node biopsy with intra-operative analysis, oncoplastic surgery and breast reconstruction. I also have a special interest in and undertake surgery for skin cancer.

I graduated from the London Hospital Medical College, University of London. My general surgical training was based around several centres of excellence in managing breast diseases, including The Royal Marsden Hospital where I developed oncoplastic techniques to optimise the cosmetic outcome of breast surgery.

I have always been interested in cancer surgery, and as part of my higher surgical training at the University College London, I was awarded a master's degree for my research into Gene Therapy for the prevention and treatment of cancer.

In 2007 I was appointed Consultant Surgeon at Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust. I have been the Clinical Lead/Head of department for the Breast and Endocrine Surgery and Surgical Oncology department for Portsmouth for over 10 years. I have also chaired and lead the Breast Multidisciplinary Team at Queen Alexandra Hospital for over 7 years.
I am the Surgical Lead for breast screening cancers and also the Joint Regional Lead for breast cancer for Wessex. I am the Lead Trainer for the Portsmouth National Oncoplastic Fellowship Program and have helped many trainees develop their skills for their consultant career.
