Mr Agrawal, his nurse Gwynedd and secretary Charlie all offered a caring, thorough and reassuring service to me at the Spire Hospital during a difficult time. Diagnosis, results, scans and an operation were handled quickly and with sensitivity considering the restrictions of both Covid and Christmas. I can highly recommend Mr Agrawal.

I have been a patient of Avi Agrawal for two and a half years. In 2018 he carried out my mastectomy, which was straight forward and problem free; and I have been pleased with the results. I have subsequently had six monthly check up appointments with him. Mr Agrawal has always taken time to talk though options, treatments and risks but most importantly he treats you as a human being, never patronizing or rushing questions. Results have been delivery back swiftly which makes a huge difference. I know my experience of breast cancer was made much easier because Mr Agrawal was my consultant. His private secretaries and nurses also deserve a mention. They have been absolutely wonderful throughout.

I have met Mr Agrawal 3 times. For a consultation, surgery and for a post op appointment. All within a month. He was was able to fit me in for my long awaited Breast enlargement after I had it cancelled a couple of times this year due to COVID-19 with another surgeon. I had a excellent experience with Mr Agrawal , he has a very kind and gentle manner. He was happy to answer any questions I had, and I can not praise him enough for his care and professionalism. I would definitely see Mr Agrawal again in the future should I need to. And would recommend him highly.

I met Mr Agrawal on 2 occasions, the first time was finding out my biopsy results, from a small breast lump. I had been told before hand from the Doctor performing my biopsy & a cancer nurse. & leaflets. His first words were, have you been informed what you have. I said yes, but hearing it from Mr Afrawal was scary hearing the words cancer! He made me feel at ease, with lots of banter with me & my support worker. Then Mr Agrawal spoke about my treatment plan, which I signed & had a copy of. I was very impressed with how quickly I was going to have surgery to remove my small lump. The only downside was, having to wait 3 weeks to hear my results after surgery. Also a 2 hour wait in the waiting room. But, then I went into see Mr Agrawal who gave me the best news ever. I was all clear of cancer! I cried with the relief of hearing that news. Mr Agrawal & his trainee surgeon did a wonderful job with my surgery. I am over the moon with how my breast looks. I don't have any visible scars across my breast. Thank you Mr Agrawal & the NHS for looking after me & arranging my surgery so quickly! Christine Park.

Profile

As a fully trained Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon, I carry out regular diagnostic fast track breast clinics and a full range of breast surgery, including sentinel node biopsy with intra-operative analysis, oncoplastic surgery and breast reconstruction. I also have a special interest in and undertake surgery for skin cancer.

I graduated from the London Hospital Medical College, University of London. My general surgical training was based around several centres of excellence in managing breast diseases, including The Royal Marsden Hospital where I developed oncoplastic techniques to optimise the cosmetic outcome of breast surgery.

I have always been interested in cancer surgery, and as part of my higher surgical training at the University College London, I was awarded a master's degree for my research into Gene Therapy for the prevention and treatment of cancer.

In 2007 I was appointed Consultant Surgeon at Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust. I have been the Clinical Lead/Head of department for the Breast and Endocrine Surgery and Surgical Oncology department for Portsmouth for over 10 years. I have also chaired and lead the Breast Multidisciplinary Team at Queen Alexandra Hospital for over 7 years.
I am the Surgical Lead for breast screening cancers and also the Joint Regional Lead for breast cancer for Wessex. I am the Lead Trainer for the Portsmouth National Oncoplastic Fellowship Program and have helped many trainees develop their skills for their consultant career.
