Mr Anjum Qureshi is a very caring and personable neurosurgeon. He was very good at explaining what surgery I required and how he and his surgical team would obtain the best results possible for my lower spine defects. He took time to answer all my questions both pre and post surgery. Mr Qureshi and his team were also very attentive in the days and weeks following my procedure that has met and exceeded all my expectations. The post operative nursing team at Queen’s Hospital also provided me with great care.

I was diagnosed with a complex schwannoma just before the first lockdown in 2020 and Mr Qureshi was my consultant. Our initial conversations were very open and honest and I was left with no doubt about the seriousness of my condition and what the eventuality could be. His explanation of my condition together with his planned course of action was amazing in keeping me calm and informed. Despite all the issues of securing a bed due to COVID to carry out my operation he continued to pursue it and kept me fully informed. At all stages, he was completely transparent of the complexities and dangers of the op and what my life could be like afterwards which despite being scary was very much appreciated. Once the op was carried out he kept in touch and made sure my recovery was on track. I am told the results have been amazing and that the outcome was better than could be hoped for. I had full mobility from the moment I left hospital. 2 1/2 years on I have just had a further check up, everything is as it should be and I cannot thank this man enough for what he did for me in what was a challenging environment both with COVID and for the condition he was treating me for. I realise not all heroes wear capes and we should remember and appreciate everything they do for us

Mr Quereshi was clear and concise about my condition. I feel he listened and gave me good advice. It was fantastic that there was this extra clinic held on a Sunday. It made the appointment easily accessible and convenient.

When I had a bad fall from a ladder my neck was fractured in 3 places. The first day at the hospital was scary and confusing but upon meeting Dr Qureshi everything was more clear. He helped me and my family understand the situation better and gave us all the options. He was kind and calming and reassured us many times. He made a difficult and scary situation more calm for all of us. We trusted him and his opinion and opted for the surgery. Now 5 months later I feel much better and the operation worked great. I don’t think me and my family would’ve gotten through this without Dr Qureshi’s help and guidance.

Mr Qureshi had been following my case of cervical stenosis for over two years, during which he advised me to undergo surgery, however I was fearful and reluctant, until I had a bad fall which paralysed me for a few minutes and I was admitted to the hospital where I eventually underwent surgery. Mr Qureshi understood my fears and explained the whole procedure to me and the risks involved while being most reassuring and considerate of my concerns as well as those of my family. One year on after the surgery, I have made good progress. My pins and needles have improved; my arm strength and coordination has improved and I can walk better. I am very grateful to Mr Qureshi, he is very patient, understanding and compassionate in his approach. Personally, I would be very happy to recommend him.
