A fantastic, highly skilled and experienced surgeon (see later), extremely helpful, pleasant and I really appreciated the way she made me feel relaxed and happy in the operating theatre immediately after the operation, having time for a brief word shortly before I was' wheeled out'. Helen visited me on the ward, and has a great way of making the patient feel both comfortable and informed. I was also very impressed that the 'team', which included various staff members including the Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist (and others), ensured that I made a fast recovery and was fit and well enough to be discharged the day after the (Total Hip Replacement) operation. The surgical skills of Miss Helen Mackay stand as an absolute testament to her outstanding patient care and dedication to providing patients with life changing hip replacement surgery at a truly remarkable level of distinguished expertise. My wife was fortunate to have Helen as her surgeon for a total hip replacement operation a year ago and not a day has passed without thanking Helen for her amazing skill in providing a life changing successful operation which has fully restored walking and general mobility back to 100% in such a short time. This achievement has been made possible by the patient's determination to achieve the maximum possible benefit from this surgical miracle by ensuring that recommended daily exercises, supplemented by walking unaided are completed to strengthen leg muscles and aid recovery, however the fundamental key to this success has undoubtedly been the skill of the surgeon. It has been a special and unique privilege to have experienced the outstanding patient care and dedication of the nursing staff at Ormskirk and District General Hospital and the surgical Team led by Miss Helen Mackay who have totally transformed my wife's life and given her the ability to enjoy a pain free life again. I have been fortunate to have been operated on by Miss Mackay and I can honestly say that I believe that I could not have been in better hands. Being prone to arthritis, I have had the misfortune to have required both knees to be replaced, together with my right hip. All of these operations have been carried out by Miss Mackay and her team and I am delighted with the results. If you are unfortunate enough to need an operation but lucky enough to have Miss Mackay carry out the operation, then in my opinion, you could not be in better hands.
