I saw Matthew for an ablation and cardioversion to fix an arrhythmia.
Matthew and his team were brilliant in all respects - talking me through the process and explaining everything.
It's now 12 months since the procedure and I am in normal sinus rhythm, have restarted playing 5 a side football and recently ran a 10k.
If I have any further issues in future I would come straight to Matthew - you couldn't wish to be in safer hands.
I benefitted from a very comprehensive session with Matthew where he reviewed all my notes as well as talking through every aspect of the problem I was having. I was given both an ECG and an echocardiogram and these were evidentially professionally and carefully taken. Matthew was able to adjust the complexity of his explanations, either to the more technical level or the lay-person level, according to my own understanding of matters. I felt I had all the time I needed to communicate and discuss issues without any sense that there was a “clock running” on the consultation.
In a subsequent discussion two weeks later, Matthew was again thorough and patient in talking through the data and identifying possible next steps.
I first went to see Dr Ginks at The Foscote, Banbury for a consultation back in July after being diagnosed by the GP with Afib. In the last 6 months I have had 2 cardio versions and one ablation. The first cardio version didn’t work at all, the second one worked for 4 days, only before reverting back. 3 months after the ablation, I am still in normal sinus rhythm. For various reasons, I have been treated in 3 Oxfordshire hospitals. For the first cardio version I was treated by a colleague of Dr Ginks, Dr Sabharwal (very nice doctor). I have had 3 consultations- 2 face to face and one on Zoom.
In the first consultation Dr Ginks spent time with me discussing the problem and finding out who I was; he is a very good listener. His manner is friendly and reassuring and he is surprisingly self depreciative. His consultations are well structured and backed up by highly detailed notes emailed to me and to the GP. Notes are sent to the GP after any procedures or consultations. He always sends these quickly.
After the first consultation, I was relieved to hear that he could help me. He explained his findings clearly so as to make sense of what I was experiencing and why. He described possible paths of treatment that might need to be followed if a treatment didn’t work- a game plan. His approach makes you felt you are being cared for by a medical expert. I think he actually likes people and is genuinely concerned to help them to get better. He has let me go now, but has said I can contact him if I need to.
Finally, I was delighted to hear from staff in every hospital -doctors, nurses and anaesthetists that they consider him to be an excellent doctor- there’s a lot of respect from his medical colleagues and he has my respect and gratitude too. I would highly recommend Dr Ginks, cardiologist.
Not one to normally write reviews about medical matters - but my experience with Dr Matt Ginks has been exceptional. Having suffered with arrhythmia for many years - it was time to address the situation. After various consultations on my options with cardiologists on the UAE where I’m based, I was referred to Matt for a consultation for private treatment via the NHS in Oxford, UK.
We had a video conference for an hour and a half. During that time I was listened to - medical notes had been thoroughly reviewed in advance - and various options discussed - clearly with pros and cons to all options. Within a week a date was secured for a Catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation procedure and a month later was in for surgery.
I found Dr Ginks care and professionalism on the day (and NHS staff) excellent. “ Being in Safe hands “ is a term I do not use freely - but it was very much the feeling I had pre op and post. Day procedure meant I was back at my hotel that evening and started recovery .
Fast fwd a few months - I’ve been truly feeling 100% better than before - no symptoms of past issues and life very much looking bright and healthy.
Thanks Matt - you’ve made a big impact . Keep up the great work
I had my company medical in March 2022, i was referred to Dr Mathew Ginks for a potential cardiac issue. I managed to get a cancellation and saw him within a few days. He performed an Echocardiogram that day and actually found a potential different issue, as he was so thorough in his examination. He explained the new issue in detail and the possible scenarios both good and bad. He was very clear on the action we needed to take and whilst on holiday wrote me a letter referring me for a CT scan.
This CT scan was booked quickly with the help of his team and an appropriate follow up was then scheduled, it was incredibly efficient.
Dr Ginks explains things so clearly without any medical jargon, he answered all my questions in a very clear way and no question was too much trouble. He was very caring in what was potentially a very worrying time. We now have a plan to see him in a year.
I thoroughly recommend Dr Ginks and found him so great to deal with in every respect.
