As a visitor from out of the area and in considerable pain I was fortunately able to make an appointment at the practice and was very lucky to see Dr Joseph McGilligan. He was professional, courteous, kind and listened to my concerns and prescribed appropriately and accurately. Nowadays we hear dreadful stories about NHS employees but I cannot speak highly enough of the service I received from Dr McGilligan and the practice and patients who attend there are very lucky to have him working there. Would definitely recommend.

Dr McGilligan referred to the previous time we had been to visit with my son and which made it feel personable. He interacted with my daughter to include her in the consultation. He told a couple of stories including humour which again was nice. He was very knowledgeable and knew what he was talking about and I liked the fact he sent my information regarding the condition via email for me to read over in more detail. He was kind and polite.

I have previously been disappointment and felt let down by the treatment I have received at Woodland Surgery over the years, so much to I do not like to visit this surgery as its a stressful experience. However, I can safely say that Dr Joseph McGilligan was amazing. It was the first time I felt like I was being listened to as a person and not a statistic to get me in an out the door. He was engaging, actively listened, asked questions and discussed what medicine he was providing and why. He was also the first Dr to ever suggest and allergy test to see if this can help identify anything, where all others have ignored this option. He even noted I had other medical conditions / my age and ask how these were / I was then went on to discuss other tests he would do and possible treatment. I was very impressed and its restored my faith in seeing a Dr again.

Dr McGilligan was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. He diagnosed skin conditions quickly and has booked me in to have them dealt with promptly. He completely put my mind at ease. He also helped by looking at a lesion my father has on his nose and gave feedback on that too which was a great help.

I went to see Dr McGilligan with a suspect mole that had changed appearance despite having been previously diagnosed as benign. He was of the opinion it was nothing to worry about, but to be sure, and for my peace of mind, he offered to remove it himself, within the week. Throughout the procedure which was quick and painless, he kept me informed about what he was doing, what the aftercare would be and when I could expect the results. All this was above and beyond the service I was expecting when I first visited the surgery. I haven’t the results yet - it’ll be a week or so before that happens, but I’m extremely happy with my treatment so far and would strongly recommend this doctor.
