I was a patient of Dr C’s while at the Cardinal Clinic in Windsor when I was 17 years old (inpatient and day patient), and it was very traumatic.
Firstly - I’m mindful that young people or parents may be reading this looking for people to support them, and it’s really important to me that you know wonderful, compassionate and skilled clinicians are out there, and you deserve to be guided with care throughout your recovery journey. My experience with Dr C is not the norm by any means.
I’m not going to describe the malpractice in detail here, as I know it may be challenging or triggering for some. However, as a broad overview - I experienced violation of bodily integrity, malpractice, and medical negligence. Sadly, I also know I’m not the only one who has experienced this from Dr C.
Dr C’ actions directly contributed to my PTSD (noticed and affirmed by psychiatrists and psychologists over the years) and meaning my recovery has taken years longer than it should’ve.
I hope that through sharing my review, it helps another young person avoid this malpractice. Again - incredible clinicians are out there - please keep looking for the right fit. You are worthy of being supported with empathy x

He’s a very caring person, makes sure to listen to you. He’s very helpful and understanding.
Thank you for the feedback, I always feel it is important for patients to feel that they have been listened to.
He is very understanding and knowledgeable about mental health and he clearly explains what the issues are / the treatments he’s suggesting. It’s very reassuring to know this, especially as a 17 year old who doesn’t have much experience with the treatment side of mental health. I have had my entire experience online (through teams meetings) and so can’t really comment on the difficulties I’ve had as they were mainly about adjusting to online sessions, and not any criticism about Dr Cacoullis - especially as he tried his best to keep the sessions comfortable.
My experience was nothing but positive. I have just attended a thought leadership seminar on emotional intelligence led by Dr Martin Newman. He shared that one of his greatest pieces of advice was that a patient following meeting with a psychiatrist was that I am understood. After 15 years I can finally say that I was understood and physically was shaking at finally being in this place - thank you.
Thanks for this lovely feedback. I certainly feel happy that you felt I took the time to listen to you.
