Dr Affleck was totally professional in his fully patient-centered dealings with me. His manner was reassuring. He was sensitive to my needs and responded to all my prompts as they arose. Not once did I feel ill at ease or not listened to. Over a very full 9 hour day with 6 excisions and final reconstuction with sutures and skin graft I can truly say I was treated superbly throughout..It was a large BCC and took a lot of work and skill to remove. The excisions were assiduously executed and though the theatre team were tiring somewhat toward the end they persevered to the last. I have to say I felt fortunate to be in very capable hands. Post -op: re follow up in local surgery. I live 200+ miles from Ninewells so it was impractical to return there, Removal of sutures and aquaplast was by a local doctor and it involved more than an average GP consultation which caused some grief as GP seemed out of his depths with it all and ended up phoning hospital for more guidance on procedure..

The Mohs procedure was handled excellently. I can't really think of anything to improve. A particular good point was the injecting of the local anaesthetic where the process was less painful than I was expecting.

Dr Affleck was brilliant from start to finish of my treatment. I was discharged yesterday following two years of regular check ups. An altogether brilliant Health Service experience. Initially I was referred to Ninewells hospital by my GP. On my first visit I was seen by a colleague of Dr Affleck who called him in from his own Clinic commitments to have a look at my ear. Prior to my visit I was not given any real cause for concern but Dr Affleck was sufficiently concerned to squeeze me in to his packed schedule only a matter of a few days later. How right he was because the offending growth required to be removed immediately. His surgical expertise was first class and despite a large lump having to be removed he has left me with nothing more problematic than a slightly smaller ear. It could have been so much worse. Great skill and during the surgical removal of the offending lump he kept me fully informed of all that was going on. Following the operation he arranged for me to be seen every three months until I was discharged yesterday. From initial appropriate action to continuing after care, what more could a patient ask for. During my two years of meetings he treated additional small issues and advised me regularly on how to address potential risks on my own. A very skilled and caring health professional whose interaction with patients could not be better. When my problem was diagnosed it was a major challenge for our family. Dr Affleck helped us through a difficult time and we all thank him enormously.

Dr Affleck took great care to ensure that the removal of a BCC which encroached into my upper lip was extremely successful both clinically and cosmetically. I found him to be willing to discuss all aspects of my treatment in a clear and informative manner.
