Dr Birtle has been my oncologist since 2009 and I cannot praise her enough. I feel confident in everything she says and she always sends me a copy of her communications with my GP. She has a friendly and positive attitude and listens to all my comments. I cannot think of anything which would improve her service and I like the way she believes and understands that periods of non-treatment can be beneficial in some circumstances. I continue to trust in her judgment and, as I have to continue seeing an oncologiest, I am so pleased it will be Dr. Birtle. She has an excellent team and I am so grateful for all her help and support. My heartfelt thanks.

My review above says it all I .think of Allison, as far as improving the service, if the doctors read what the appointment was for, i.e. Results of scans or Blood tests etc, these can be done with a 10 minute phone call, instead of a 3 hour round trip to Lancaster , Also, if the appointments were reviewed before the meeting, you could ensure that All the results were ready for the appointment. E.g. I've just come back from Lancaster, and my Scan results were not ready and all that was said could have been done on the phone, also, I have been worried about these results, which was the whole point of the meeting, and now I've been told I will get the results in 6 weeks time. Maybe if a specialist nurse for example could check to see if any results need chasing up before appointments and the reports are with the patients notes. Although Alison does an excellent job , these couple of small things could make the patients appointment a lot easier for them, both financially and precious time, and also it would save the hospital a lot of time if telephone appointments were offered to patients.
