Dear Hairmyres
Staff and doctors in all departments very efficient but administrative departments are slow
Why in this day in age can communication not be made by email or text to those who can use this mode of communication rather than by 2nd class post
You can pay bills sell your home get prescriptions etc
This would save time and paper free communication and postal costs
Relates to medical results and appointments What a saving to NHS would this create
We have a brilliant service regarding staff but look at admin
The admission process was extremely lenthy - about 3 hours and totally exhausting.
I did not sleep as every hour a nurse came into my room and shone a torch in my eyes.
That same nurse entered in her daily log that I had slept soundly.
The doctor I saw could not explain his diagnosis or lack of a diagnosis.
I've visited again several times and friends see the same issues.
I am writing this review on behalf of my aunt who has been in hairmyers for two days .On day two she was moved from ward two to ward ten and was given no explanation why she was being moved..... lesson number 1 for staff and doctors....Always keep the patient(i.e the PERSON being treated )informed.....My aunt has a cochlear implant which means she has some difficulty hearing unfamiliar voices and did not pick up half of what the nurses and doctors were saying..lesson numberr 2 for staff and doctors..please make certain the patient(is the PERSON being treated)understands and is fully cognizant of all tests and medication being administered and why and also what the test may or may not find..and finally all staff nurses should know what scans involve and if they are not familiar with certain treatments they should educate themselves and really finally ..lesson number 3 for staff and doctors ....Always ask the patient(is the PERSON being treated) their family medical history.....and always remember that a patient. Is first and foremost a PERSON...
Very substandard. Poor communication. Staff shortages in emergency so expect to see tandrems and hands on hips if you dare to seek assistance when some are on duty. Cleanliness is average by sight but may be clean. Packed waiting rooms are alike a cattle station, so dont expect any time for discussions - if you want to entrust your care to that well it might suffice. From experience far superior care elsewhere. A local friend said to me it was an area that caused frustration to staff - so all are piled into the rough treatment basket.
Having been in wards 3 and 11 I am more than pleased to write this review, Hairmyres in my opinion have graded themselves a Gold award from myself and family, from the Medical team, Nurseing team and Auxiliary staff I could not thank them enough for their professionalism in careing for me over the last few weeks. Thanking all staff and please have a Merry Christmas
Thanks Mr K Bow
The staff in ward 20 in Hairmyres Hospital all sit eating food at nurses station , it is quite hard to see that they are staff because most of them wear hoodies over their tunics , you can come and go and nobody would even see you as their too busy eating their take aways , never encountered anything like it in the NHS .
I attended the Minor Injuries Units after a fall down the stairs. Dr Andrew Balme treated me in a very kind, professional and courteous manner. The nursing staff were also very approachable and friendly.
