I saw a lovely doctor on Weds 24th June who organised a blood test and ultrasound scan for me & told me to book a follow up appointment in 4 weeks time. When I booked the blood test the receptionist was very helpful and booked it around my work. I tried to book my followup appt on line as I usually do but nothing came up, I tried for several days and still there were no appts, eventually today it told me there was an error. I have phoned today to get a routine followup appt in 3 weeks time only to be told I could only speak to a duty dr & to call next week when my results should be in & a duty dr would phone me back. I don't want to speak to a duty dr I would like to have a proper follow up. I feel very sorry for your reception staff who are on the front line, having to deal with disgruntled patients.

I have always had a smear test done by a doctor in the past. I recently had a telephone call from your surgery inviting me in for a smear test, but I now understand that this is done by a nurse. I naturally asked was the nurse trained to do this and would she do a complete examination including having my ovaries check as I have had done in the past many times. I was assured and lead to believe that a full examination including my ovaries would be done. I was seen by the nurse who was curt and efficient, The lady did the smear test but then told me to get dressed, I asked her if she was going to do the full examination to check my ovaries and was told that you could not do that without an ultrasound. I informed the nurse that my previouse doctor had always checked my ovaries and she seemed to think that this was not possible. I came away feeling very let down as I was assured that the nurse had been trained to give a full examination. I know my doctor did check my ovaries as he always remarked how difficult it was to do this because my muscles were very tight as I was very fit and worked out at the time of my last examination. I have spoken to other ladies who attend other surgeries and have been told that the full examination is done by the nurse and have discribed to me how it was done, as by my last doctor.
