The Croft Practice

I have found the service to be very efficient and all staff very helpful. The surgery and pharmacy is always busy but queries are still dealt with politely and professionally.

The Croft has given us great service for the last 15 years, always courteous, helpful and professional. Special thanks must go to Katie and Phil for their help over the years and of course to the various doctors. Looking forward to the new surgery when it is built and improvements to patient parking.

The increasing number of patients at this surgery is due to the increasing number of properties being built in this area, it's becoming very difficult to obtain an appointment, even a phone consultation. I suffer from a stomach condition which has become worse due to stress & worries recently due to being 77 and only have an inadequate income from pensions to manage. I had an appointment with Vanessa previously as I needed advice concerning my medications. However, her advice was contrary to what a doctor later explained to me, as my symptoms became even worse so I had to insist on a further appointment. Which was with a doctor, who explained that in the case of my condition, her advice wasn't relevant which she could have seen as she had my medical notes on the screen in front of her. When I tried for the follow-up appointment I was given on the 20th of May & my earlier problem occurred earlier in April. It was only by my insistence that I finally was given a phone consultation and the doctor gave me an appointment to see him soon after, but these problems caused me even more stress! The surgery is not adequate now for the number of patients in the area, with very few doctors available as they are split between 2 surgeries, Barnham & Yapton, which cover a very large area of patients. There is a new medical centre under construction which is still ongoing. It was originally planned to open last summer but is still nowhere near completion, due to the stop-and-start of the construction work. However, unless there are more doctors available nothing will change!

The Croft Practice is obviously not adequate for the number of patients that are now in the area it has to cover which will only get worse due to the number of new houses in the area. Also as the new medical centre that was due to open last summer, has stopped & started many times since. When I required an appointment recently for my continuing condition I would have to wait until 20th of May from earlier this month. My condition has worsened coincidentally for which I required additional medication, only by insisting for at least a phone consultation was I able to obtain it. The previous person, Vanessa gave me completely the wrong instructions concerning my medication, which if I had followed her instructions would have made my condition even worse. It was fortunate that I had an appointment with the Indian doctor, who unfortunately I can't recall his name. His advice was completely the opposite & very helpful. Although I wouldn't recommend the surgery at this precise time until perhaps the new medical centre will open, I can only hope that the service will improve for all our health sakes.

There is obviously a need for more doctors as I was given a date of the 20th of May when needed an appointment to see a doctor or even a phone consultation earlier this month. It was only with persistence that I managed to get a phone one, I only needed medication for my stomach condition which I was unable to get any other way. It's obvious that the surgery is not adequate for the number of patients in the area which will only get worse due to the number of new houses being built in the area. The new proposed medical centre which was due to be open last summer has stopped started so many times, WHY???
