My first visit to register with your surgery; a 15 minute weight in a queue being serviced by one member of staff who was extremely helpful and accommodating. Unfortunately, it was at this point l was told to go up to the second floor! An unmissable sign directing new patients may be more useful at the main reception, not just on the second floor? Also, as you are offering an online service wouldn't it be more efficient to deal with the online registration at the same time (I've just read on here that l have to go in to the surgery with proof of identification).

Thank you for your comments, which we have passed onto our Reception Manager to ensure we have correct signage in place. We apologise for any confusion. We appreciate your comments regarding the online registration, however, we have to physically see proof of someone’s identity for registering for our online services. This is to protect our patients’ confidentiality and there are very strict procedures that we have to follow to ensure the safety of patient data. Yours faithfully, Doctor Irma Murjikneli Meridian Surgery

I just want to say I left a message on the online system on 22nd Feb and it still hasn't been read. I know it says it can take a while to be picked up but I'm now wondering if there is any point in messaging ( which I thought was easier for both parties) than phoning!

Thank you for your comments, I believe we have addressed this issue with you personally, as there was an issue on that day - if this is not the case, please do get in touch with our Reception Manager. Please accept our apologies for the delay in our response.

Excellent surgery, including all staff. It is extremely difficult and frustrating to get over the phone appointments, especially if you are at work and need to be calling for 2 hours or longer. Hence why I registered my self to go on line, which is AMAZING!!. Also, if you go early! Before 8:30, it's very easy to get an appointment for the day. The surgery is always very clean, pleasant and a very nice building.

I have been a patient at this practice since 2001 and have always found everyone, doctors, nurses, receptionists and support staff to be 100% professional and helpful and I have always been treated with great care and kindness. I have always been able to arrange an appointment although have sometimes had to wait for a few days which I think is just a sign of the times we are living in and that all medical surgeries are so very very busy

Thank you for your kind comments, and support and understanding of the current situation. As you say, this is across the board for all GP practices, which are all under pressure at this time. Thank you for taking the time to feedback. Yours faithfully, Doctor Irma Murjikneli Meridian Surgery

My only complaint is the dreadful issues there are in getting to see a GP here. It used to be very easy, but since other practices closed in the area and patient numbers exploded here it is now awful. I got a pink reminder slip through the post from my GP reminding me I needed to make an appointment to see him. I have tried to do that for three months. Call, and his bookable slots are full and you need to 'pop' in (I work and can't just 'pop' in). Try booking online and he only has one day bookable and it's full all the time. My condition is such that I cannot see another GP, so I've given up. I'm not critical. If his need to see me is urgent, he will have to send me an appointment.

Response from Meridian Surgery

Thank you for taking the time to feedback about our services. As you are aware, two local GP practices closed recently, and we had to absorb over 2000 patients, and we appreciate how difficult it can be to get an appointment with your usual GP. We are currently working on Continuity of Care, as if a patient sees different doctors each time, and have to explain each time is not always best for the patient; therefore we always encourage our patients to choose a usual GP, and another GP as a backup. We have posters in our waiting rooms to alert patients to this, and we apologise that you were unable to get an appointment with your usual GP. If you experience such problems again, please ask to speak to a senior member of the reception team so that we can ensure this does not happen again and that we can get this appointment booked for you. Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused. Yours faithfully, Doctor Irma Murjikneli Meridian Surgery
