On October 17th I saw Dr Hussein and asked about the possibility of having a shingles vaccination, he told me to make an appointment at reception. The receptionists conferred, confirmed I was eligible and made an Appointment for today - Nov 1st. at 12.20. After waiting 13 minutes I duly saw the Nurse who informed me I was not eligible as I was over 79 years of age. So, wasted half hour and unnecessary taxi fare. Sadly in this instance the receptionists have given me incorrect information.
When you reach a certain age, this surgery just ignores you. I've been on a high dosage of medication for 4 years - and never called in for a tablet review.Have COPD never checked To make an appointment is totally impossible. I spent over an hour to try to speak to reception. Blood tests? I was initially told the surgery doesn't do blood tests, then after speaking to a GP who said she would sort out the issues, taking her at her word, I telephoned reception and nothing had changed- they had my in treats and distressed. The practice manager had to get involved and confirmed that the surgery was at fault. When you on the very rare occasion manage to talk to reception - there is no concern or empathy from them, just blank. I am really desperate to see a GP at Llanishen court surgery, desperate but it's just not possible. In my personal opinion and the medical services I've received from this surgery, they are not fit for purpose - a total total nightmare I'm in the process of moving general practitioners. I have been humiliated in the past, the only patient left in the emergency appt room and forgotten to be seen. ( I was admitted to the hospital on an emergency patient the day after) I attended another appointment and waited, only to be told there was a letter being sent to me and I wasn't able to see the nurse as arranged.
I spoke to a female Dr on the telephone a few months ago,who seemed extremely concerned about what had happened, she made an appointment for my bloods to be taken, assured me there would never be another issue and she would ask the practice manager to call me ( I'm still waiting for that call). I
I am terrified in calling the surgery and try not to see a gp. I'm in my late 60s, never had a tablet review etc.
Today I had to call the surgery to make an appointment for a blood test and all I recieved was a negative response, explaining that they wouldn't give me an appointment. I ended up very distressed.I don't know why this surgery discriminates against me
Reception staff need to be properly trained to deal with vulnerable sick people. They lack care, compassion and the ability to listen to what patients have to say. Instead they bark rules and you really have to stand your ground to ensure that you have a reasonable level of service to safeguard your health. So many times they have insisted that they are correct about the facts of my case and then proved wrong. It is necessary to be efficient but this is definitely a case of power and control and they have lost sight of who and what they are dealing with. I have witnessed this behaviour before and seen how my previous Surgery has been completely transformed by a different attitude. I have also got concerns about access to Doctors ( no face to face) and failure to check the details of my case before speaking to me. Patients must be able to trust Doctors to be in control of their treatment and not prompted into action by patients or leave it to urgent suspected cancer patients to chase their own results.
I rang the surgery for a doctors appointment and was told to call back the next day 8am, so I did, the receptionist was very rude to me and asked if the appointment was really an emergency, I replied I wasn't sure as I was told to ring back the next day 8am, she was rather short with me, then the doctor rang me back i spoke with him, told him my symptoms which I believe to be arthritis for which I am in pain and he told me to get a covid test even though I have no symptoms and had both vaccine. Poor very poor service.
