The care coordinator was very understanding. Put my mind at rest , answered all my questions, put me in touch with support groups and arranged a visit to check on my mum ..... Was a credit to the surgery
Called the surgery to make an appointment with a doctor. Receptionist asked what for? I explained I had been experiencing increasingly worse pain in my lower back area for months and now was affecting mobility and sleep. She said I'll make you an apt. with a physio, however, I wanted to talk to a doctor and not sure what was causing the pain - could be something internal and more serious than muscular. The receptionist said if it's not muscular then the physio will refer you to the doctor ... I said I would prefer to just go to the doctor directly and they can refer me to a physio. Then I was told the nearest appointment was nearly 4 weeks away!
When I reminded her I was in pain she said - go to accident & emergency. My symptoms are neither accident or emergency.
So she then says - I'll have a word with the doctor for you and they will decide if they need to see you. A few hours later I receive a text from the surgery with links to back pain pages on the internet plus advising me I should consider taking a drug called "Amitriptyline" which is for nerve impingement.
I wrote to the practice manager using the email address on their website, explaining my experience including the unhelpful text message. No response to either email.
In summary - clinically diagnosed by a receptionist, sent a pointless text with uninformed advice from the surgery admin team, ignored by practice manager.
I keep being harassed about having a medical procedure even though I have made it clear several times in person and in writing that I do not wish to be.
I was put into hospital with a serious bacterial infection and put onto a drip after the doctor misdiagnosed me and did not give me any antibiotics for the swollen lymph gland I had on my left side and, instead, told me it was a virus and he could not do anything for me. He could see I was in pain and told me to take paracetamol and keep drinking water. I only got the GP appointment because a family member called on my behalf to complain about how worried they are about me and how appallingly I am being treated and the reception team wanted to send me a questionnaire to fill in and then send me to the minor illness clinic! It is beyond a joke with the Broadway medical centre. You can't get an appointment, you get misdiagnosed and put into hospital.
I am due a blood test for my kidneys every 6 months.I was not contacted after 6 months from last January, my last test. I eventually pointed this out and was told I had to do it through reception. I've delayed it until now but because of concerns I applied to have it. My old GP has apparently left and through reception intermediaries I'm being told I'm not due a blood test which is patently untrue and provable if my old renal consultant were contacted and I know is in on my notes from my last consultation with my old GP in October. Basically the Gaps assertion is patently wrong, and probably so. You can't make it up!
