At a recent consultation with Mr Leeder, I found him to be welcoming, professional, helpful and with expert knowledge. He listened to my finding of a suspected hernia, examined me carefully with a nurse present and discussed possible further intervention, His explanations were clear and easy to understand. I felt confident and reassured by his pleasant manner and left happy with my chosen consultant. Helen Brown

Had lost all hope of getting Bariatric surgery done so had a private appointment with Mr Leeder and he was lovely. Explained everything in detail the risks and that if the psychologist said it wasn’t a good thing he couldn’t go against that. A week later I had a choice of date for surgery. On the day of surgery he came to explain everything in detail that until he had a look he wouldn’t know if the op could be done. He visited every day of my stay reassuring me and putting me at great ease. 2 weeks following surgery I was rushed into A&E with a bleed Mr Leeder came to me checked me over and explained what had happened which made me feel so much brighter as the amount of blood was very frightening. I would recommend Mr Leeder to anyone he has a friendly manner is a great surgeon my scars look years old already 6 weeks post surgery. My husband has been diagnosed with gallstones and has a 6 week wait to see a doctor. We were so impressed with Mr Leeder he is going to see him he is such a great surgeon.

Laparoscopic repair to large paraesophageal hiatus hernia carried out by Mr Leeder and his team, April 2017. Very clear explanations of what was involved plus Sunday visit by Mr Leeder during 2 day post-op hospital stay. Two years later I developed symptoms which I feared may have been caused by failure of the repair. Thorough investigations resulted, including CT scan, endoscopy, barium meal and colonoscopy. The hiatus hernia repair was revealed as stable and the relatively mild symptoms probably connected with some degradation of oesophagal and stomach muscle function, together with mild diverticular disease. All in all I feel it unlikely that the medical care I have received from Mr Leeder and his team could have been bettered anywhere.

Mr Leader is thorough, understanding and willing to go the extra mile to help resolve the problems I consulted him with. He is always affable & it is a pleasure to have someone so reliable and consistent available at the Derby Royal Hospital. I am confident that should I need to see him again I will receive the very best of care. Jayne Morley
