What an amazing man from start to finish. Excellent communication, outlined all the risks and allowed me to make the decision of which operation I wanted (RYN). He listened to me and answered all of my questions with compassion and great knowledge. His surgical team on the day were outstanding, I felt at ease from the moment I walked through the doors. The treatment centre was clean and well run, the staff were amazing and overall I cannot fault my experience with this surgeon or team. If you are in two minds about Mr Kirby or the Royal Shrewsbury, don't be, just do it with complete confidence you are in amazing hands!

The doctor was just one reflection of an incredibly kind and supportive service that I can't fault and would recommend to anybody in fact encourage them to seek help. Mr Kirby kept me fully informed of all aspects of the operation and all risks , was attentive, answered all my questions and portrayed a lot of confidence, and this was key to my mental attitude going into the operation. Thank you. I have lost 35kg so far and life just keeps getting better.

Mr Kirby has changed my life! I have recently undergone gastric sleeve surgery and the care and compassion aswell as the support from Mr Kirby and his team is just outstanding! The surgical team on the day were the most kindest compassionate team in the NHS I’ve ever come across. The care on the elective surgical ward also we outstanding. Mr Kirby is an extremely compassionate, knowledgeable consultant and to have my life in his hands I felt extremely safe and happy with the overall pre care, procedure and aftercare. Thank you.

An excellent surgeon with first class bedside manner. I felt very safe in his hands when undergoing an emergency Laparotomy operation recently for an internal stragulating hernia. I was particularly impressed that he did not talk down to me and explained the process in very clear detail. Each day after the operation he visited me in the ward to check me over and make sure I was ok. A first rate dotor indeed who I would not hesitate to recommend. He predicted I would be released after about 5 days and ideed I was released after 5 days.

Dr Kirby is a very very good Dr, his compassion and communicative skills are amazing, I was discharged from RSH with potential Appendicitis during the first trimester of my pregnancy, he called me the very next day to see how I was which was a very pleasant and thoughtful surprise. I’d be more than happy to receive treatment from this Dr if needed in the future. Thank you Dr Kirby - Chloe
