I was treated by Dr Strauss and found him to be an extremely caring and pleasant doctor. He showed a great deal of interest in my care and it was obvious to me that he enjoyed giving ‘great care’. I fully concur with those who say he is the very best sarcoma doctor at the Royal Marsden and I would not hesitate to recommend his services.

I was treated by Dr Strauss in July 2017 as an NHS in-patient at the Royal Marsden Hospital. As a patient, I found Dr Strauss and his team to be one of the best group of doctors to speak with. Dr Strauss in particular showed a great deal of empathy, understanding and professionalism during my course of treatment. He removed a sarcoma from my left thigh, which was classified as high grade and very deep. In a very short time after surgery I was almost back to how I was before my sarcoma showed its ugly head and, five months after surgery my mobility is back to normal. I will need follow up treatment for some time but my appreciation and thanks to Dr Strauss and his Sarcoma team at the Royal Marsden hospital cannot be overstated. One suggestion I wish to make is that all doctors should try to listen more closely to the symptoms described by their patients on first presentation. This could save potential misdiagnosis of a serious and sometimes tragic outcome.

Mr Strauss is a very experienced, dedicated surgeon with excellent and refined surgical skill. He is managing my LMS condition. He and his team at the Royal Marsden has successfully removed an extremely large Leiomyosarcoma in my abdominal cavity recently. A truly compassionate, caring and very approachable surgeon. Truly the best Sarcoma surgeon at the Royal Marsden Hospital at Chelsea.

Dr Strauss is not only a very competent surgeon, but also an incredible listener. He takes the time to listen to his patients and gives them an opportunity to ask questions. I have worked with Dr Strauss for a number of years, and have always been able to rely on him to help delivery teaching and training to our senior nurse's team day, and have watched him train junior doctors on the ward rounds as well. There are few surgeons who have the empathy that Dr Strauss has for his patients, and the respect he has for his nursing colleagues. I once asked him personal advice about a skin lesion I had, and he took the time to have a look at me and advise me what to do. I feel privileged to be able to continue to work with him.
