I attended Mr Purushothaman in September as a private patient at the Washington Spire Hospital; unfortunately with the symptoms that I presented, and after examination, I was advised to attend Sunderland Royal Hospital A&E department for an MRI which confirmed the issue with my spine, admitted and surgery performed within 24 hours of meeting Mr Purushothaman. The issue was clearly explained, as was the options to fix along with the associated risks involved before going to theatre. As Mr Purushothaman has extensive experience in his field I had no concerns to undergo the fusion procedure. The surgery was a success and the post surgery follow up visits on the ward was done in a caring and sincere manner. Unfortunately after a day or two of surgery (had been on my feet within 24 hours) my pre-op symptoms began to return and Mr Purushothaman arranged for a further MRI which showed a haematoma. This required a second procedure to flush out the haematoma with instant results in that I could sit myself up without pain within 6 hours of the surgery. 8 weeks later and everything continues to improve with life getting back to normal. Mr Purushothaman is warm, friendly and genuinely cares about his patients and listens to their concerns when raised. Based on my experience as his patient I can highly recommend Mr Purushothaman and I would have no concerns about being under his care in the future.

Mr Purushothaman is an extremely gentle spoken man who takes time to listen to what you have to say. He is thorough in his examination and gives a clear account of his findings. Advice regarding any further investigations which may be required or any treatment plan is detailed. He tells you all the pros and cons so you can make a well informed decision on how you wish to proceed. You don’t feel as if you are busy pushed down a path which you might feel is not what you want. I found his advice sound and was fully supported in my decision. I would highly recommend him.

Mr. Purushothaman gave me my life back. I could barely walk when I first saw him. From the get go, his consultation was excellent, and I was taken very seriously where others had not. He was very friendly and professional. The treatment and aftercare I received were second to none. Everything was thoroughly explained and my mind was put at ease. I would highly recommend Mr. Purushothaman, and I wouldn't hesitate to see him again if I needed to. I would like to say, from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much. R

I cannot thank Bala enough for what he has done for me and giving me my life back. Since my SIJ Fusion I have passed my bike big test and ride a triumph 765cc, converted a van to a camper, done the NC500, travelled to the Isle of Wight and Cornwall from Washington, I can walk for miles, climb stairs, hills, mountains and dance. All the things you take for granted before you injure yourself and if it wasn’t for the amazing work and care from Bala and his team then none of it would be possible. I am truly grateful and thank you all fro, the bottom of my heart!

problem was clearly explained using MRI scan results.Prognosis discussed fully as was ideas to alleviate any further deterioration. i like the relaxed manner of the doctor which instills confidence.
