Dr Agrawal and his team gave me exceptional care back in December 2020. They kept me calm, made me feel incredibly comfortable and really went above and beyond to make sure that I was seen and dealt with quickly. I never once felt like I was part of a line of patients being processed and received individual care both on that day and in the follow up that was arranged for me. I couldn't recommend Dr Agrawal more highly.

I have seen Mr Agrawal on several occasions as he has carried out 3 surgeries for me following my breast cancer diagnosis. On every occasion he gave me all of the information I needed to make a decision about my treatment. I always feel he listens to what I want but is honest if he thinks it may not be the best course of action. I am really pleased with the results of my surgeries. I would not want to go to anyone else!

I first saw Mr Agrawal in 2016 when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I instantly knew that I was in the best possible hands. His exceptional skill as a surgeon resulted in no visible scar for my lumpectomy. Moreover, the fact that I had had an operation at all, is barely noticeable. His depth of knowledge and passion for his areas of expertise is self-evident during consultations and his positivity is infectious. I left his office convinced I was going to be okay. Although the make-up of my particular tumour required me to have a further year of intensive treatment, I made a full recovery and five years later I am still healthy. I continue to see Mr Agrawal every six months for a checkup. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Mr Avi Agrawal has been my consultant for over three years, since I was diagnosed with breast cancer in my thirties. I would not choose anyone else. He is very well regarded in his field and considers the latest research and personal circumstances in his approach to treatment and long term advice. However the real rarity is Mr Avi Agrawal’s honest but compassionate way of dealing with me as his patient. He really seems to care about his patients and take an interest in what we want, for example taking into account my personal and family plans in my treatment. I can’t thank Mr Agrawal enough for the excellent and life-saving treatment I have received.

Profile

As a fully trained Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon, I carry out regular diagnostic fast track breast clinics and a full range of breast surgery, including sentinel node biopsy with intra-operative analysis, oncoplastic surgery and breast reconstruction. I also have a special interest in and undertake surgery for skin cancer.

I graduated from the London Hospital Medical College, University of London. My general surgical training was based around several centres of excellence in managing breast diseases, including The Royal Marsden Hospital where I developed oncoplastic techniques to optimise the cosmetic outcome of breast surgery.

I have always been interested in cancer surgery, and as part of my higher surgical training at the University College London, I was awarded a master's degree for my research into Gene Therapy for the prevention and treatment of cancer.

In 2007 I was appointed Consultant Surgeon at Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust. I have been the Clinical Lead/Head of department for the Breast and Endocrine Surgery and Surgical Oncology department for Portsmouth for over 10 years. I have also chaired and lead the Breast Multidisciplinary Team at Queen Alexandra Hospital for over 7 years.
I am the Surgical Lead for breast screening cancers and also the Joint Regional Lead for breast cancer for Wessex. I am the Lead Trainer for the Portsmouth National Oncoplastic Fellowship Program and have helped many trainees develop their skills for their consultant career.
