This doctor could do with a bit more empathy and humanity, particularly since she is a lady doctor looking after ladies issues. Perhaps she is kinder in her private practice.

I have a history of problems after accident, ending up with an operation to insert a vaginal mesh. Being in considerable discomfort and pain, following the operation I was referred to see Professor Cardozo at her Devonshire Place consulting rooms. During the consultation she gave me a physical examination. She told me that there was nothing wrong with me, and prescribed tramadol pain killers for the symptoms. Still being in pain, I wrote to her a few days later, to question her opinion. She could not remember the details of the examination, and insisted that she carried out a standing up examination, when she did not. I felt that she was very arrogant in her approach, and did not appreciate me questioning her. My GP said that she was the leading expert in the country, but I feel I was given a very cursory treatment. I could not recommend her services to anyone.

After a mishap in an NHS hospital I was referred to this Professor. I was initially feeling reassured it was a woman a specialist in my problem who I thought would be empathic to my situation. Nothing could have prepared me for this cold, arrogant woman who fitted a mesh at Kings . The consultation was at her Harley street clinic and the surgery atKings. The consultation was dismissive. Prior to the surgery she didn't address me once, nor afterwards. All memorable for the wrong reasons.

I went for a private consultation about a gynaecological problem and was very unimpressed. I felt it was simply a moneymaking production line, Impersonal and uncaring. The consultation lasted five minutes max and if her examination lasted five seconds I would be surprised! I was perfectly polite and friendly but can't say the same for her. She rushed me out, refusing to answer my questions or discuss my problem and stood with me by her secretary's desk reciting a long list of (private insurance) codes for lots of tests and treatment I supposedly needed. I was so unhappy with all of this that I never went back and saw a different specialist - who could not have been more different! I did need tests and treatment but not all of the stuff Ms Cardozo said, which reinforces my suspicion about private patients being cash cows.

I have just been to see Professor Linda Cardozo in her Devonshire Place practice. I am sad to say that I cannot recommend her at all, she is very arrogant (which I believe to be a dangerous trait in doctors), unsympathetic, did not want to see all the paperwork of test results that I brought to her and had little interest in what I had to say. I do not have a very severe condition medically, however it is a nuisance as it is recurring and it is deeply affecting my life. She was only interested in sending me for urodynamic testing and a cystoscopy, both of which I am extremely keen to avoid as they are very intrusive and are proven not to provide conclusive answers in my type of cases, instead likely to create further infection and risk of inflammation or other damage. When I stated that I was not keen on the procedures and asked her if there is another way, she gave me a flat no. When I asked her questions, she barely answered and I left her office feeling uninformed and certainly not helped! Overall it was an absolute waste of time.
