Dr Karunakaran was immediately welcoming and calming. He listened to my medical history and concerns and was reassuring and helpful. Having a colonoscopy is understandably embarrassing and anxiety inducing and his manner and explanation of the procedure made it much less so. I was actually very relaxed even without a sedative. Dr Karunakaran talked me through what was on the screen and when a polyp was found explained it's size and how likely it was to be cancer or not. I felt well informed about the whole procedure. I am incredibly grateful to him and the nurses and feel they all deserve a pay rise quite frankly.

He allowed me to make my own decisions and treated me as a capable person with understanding. He was clear in his communications, accommodating and reassuring. He had a good rapport with his nurses and didn't lord it over them. I would probably have chosen the entonox with a bit more information about the degree of discomfort at the bends and the length of time the procedure took without sedation.

Dr Karunakaran was very helpful during the endoscopy. He made me feel very comfortable and guided me throughout the process. As I was not under sedation, his guidance helped ensure that any discomfort was kept to the minimum. Furthermore, he during the procedure he explained the overall health of the various organ. I will gladly recommend Dr Karunakaran for anybody undergoing the procedure.
