Dr Shahid Aziz

I am under Dr Aziz care , On Monday 03/02/2025, I went into the cardiac department for a Coronary angiography, The team pre op were very calm professional and reassuring, then I was seen by Dr Sathish Parasuraman on Dr Aziz team, in the operating theatre I was treated by the surgical team who were absolutely amazing, kept me informed and as calm as could be, Then Dr Parasuraman said hi and told me what he was about to do and talked to me in a very calm manner, he then proceded with the angiography, it turned out my LED needed a stent, apparently this was going to be a complex procedure, I guess this was about the half way point, Dr Parasuraman stopped for a while to confer with Dr Aziz then Dr Parasuraman told me that the story so far is that a bypass was out of the equation and this was my only option and would be a complex procedure, I was given defibrillator pads to my left and right side, and Dr Parasuraman did his magic, whilst the team kept me calm and assured as could be, well to be honest I was like a Swan, calm on the surface and paddling like mad underneath, knowing that at any time it was very possible I could have a heart attack or stroke at any moment. So 2hrs and 20 minutes later Dr Parasuraman had performed a perfectly Stent procedure, that I gather was a very complex procedure, Thank you Dr Parasuraman and his team, and thank you Dr Aziz your team are the absolute best in my humble opinion, giving me a New chapter in my life with my family. This is day 3 post op and feeling great, I must add. In the operating theatre after the procedure they showed me the before and after photos of my heart without and with the new stent, I got back to the ward and cried. So happy and very emotional. I have been attending Dr Aziz clinic for many years and there aren’t enough words to express my gratitude to the care he has shown me at all time and even more grateful for referring me for a very complicated procedure in 2018 for both valve replacement to another brilliant expert Dr Rajakaruna. In my view Dr Aziz just personifies what care should be about and he is a credit to the NHS. There isn’t a day that goes by and don’t feel grateful for all his care. Dr Aziz was very good during my stent insertion. He made me feel very relaxed. After the op he made sure I was ok and if I had any questions. 4 months later he rang me to make sure I was still ok or if I wanted to discuss any issues. I would highly recommend Dr Aziz.

Always asks the right questions Is always has a cautious outlook on medical matters

Dr. Aziz was very reassuring during my angiogram and stent insertions. He checked if I was alright several times during the procedure which made me feel very relaxed. At the post operative appointment, he was happy to discuss any queries that were raised. I would recommend him without hesitation and would like to thank him and his team very much for giving me a new lease of life.

Dr Aziz was polite,friendly,always able to explain things thouroughly and a great bedside manner.Always keeping you informed of what was happening and how you were doing.The procedures he carried out on me were done expertly and without any drama.Always explaining what was happening and what was needed at each stage.I am more than happy to give him a great review.Thank you Dr Aziz.

I was seen today at Southmead Hospital Cardiology Department by Mr Shahid Aziz for my annual heart review appointment.I have been under his care for 8 years now and have no complaints. He listened to me, answered my questions and was very attentive. I felt relaxed, unhurried and reassured. I would recommend him to anyone with heart problems.

I was admitted to Southmead hospital in Bristol suffering from chest pains. I underwent an Angiogram which initially showed I would probably have to be subjected to a Tripple Coronary Bypass Graft. However a review of the Angiogram was done by Dr Aziz and I had a Pressure Wire inserted into my artery which showed positive results thus removing the need for a Bypass operation and allowing Stents to be inserted instead. Dr Aziz carried out the Angioplasty that followed but this caused a few problems. His preference is to carry out this procedure by using the wrist as the entry point but on entering my right wrist he found he could only go so far. So with great patience he withdrew and tried to use my left wrist unfortunately meeting the same problem. At this point he had to withdraw again and he gave me the option of stopping any more efforts and returning another day or he would carry on and use my groin as the entry point. My reply was, if he was prepared to try and put the stents in that way, I didn't have an important appointment to go to, so I was prepared to allow him to carry on. The result is that the procedure, carried out in March 2018, was successful and after eight weeks on the Cardiac Rehabilitation Programme, Dr Aziz has just carried out my three month follow up and discharged me. I hope this explains clearly why I would recommend and why I totally trust this doctor and his team who were equally professional. Thank you
