Dr Russell appears professional, listening, calm, understanding, and focused. I like these qualities when I seek help from a personal of his professional standing.

I’m my uncle Niece and Court of Protection Deputyship Order for Property and Financial Affairs and Health and Personal Welfare. This was the first time that I’d met Dr Lutchman as previously had been under his Former Psychiatrist since 2016, until 23/11/21 was MC’s last Teams Meeting with his Psychiatrist, LD Psychologist and I before he retired. MC was then seen by a Locum Psychiatrist on 24/1/23 (despite myself and Home Manager chasing this up). I’d requested a Review and again I was hesitant tbh due to having working with Psychiatrist for such a long period, but I needed Not To Worry AT ALL. Dr Lutchman did A Really THOROUGH REVIEW AND NOT JUST A PSYCHIATRIC REVIEW OF HIS MEDICATION - BUT A COMPLETE HOLISTIC APPROACH ENCOMPASSING ALL HIS CARE AND SUPPORT NEEDS AS WELL. Dr Lutchman Listened To Everything That Myself and Home Manager Had To Say, And VALUED OUR VIEWS AND INPUT WHICH WAS SOO IMPORTANT AND REASSURING AND REMINDED ME OF MY GOOD WORKING RELATIONSHIP WITH HIS FORMER PSYCHIATRIST. Dr Lutchman was extremely easy to talk to and Dr Lutchman COULD NOT HAVE DONE ANYTHING MORE TO IMPROVE EVEN GREATER CARE AS HE WAS EXTREMELY THOROUGH AND WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND AND I WAS EXTREMELY IMPRESSED AND VERY HAPPY TO HAVE DR LUTCHMAN AS MC’S PSYCHIATRIST AS HE WAS EXCELLENT AT MY FIRST MEETING WITH HIM AND TOTALLY REASSURED ANY INITIAL WORRIES I HAD PREVIOUSLY. I WOULD GIVE DR LUTCHMAN OVER 10 OUT OF 10 IF I COULD. Dr Lutchman Did A Home Visit To The Residential Care Home

Dr Lutchman had all the time for us to discuss the issues pertaining the person we support. He involved all parties and asked more questions to get to understand and to know the person during their consultation.

  • Psychiatry

Profile

My journey in psychiatry began at the University of the West Indies in Jamaica, leading to my medical degree and internship. My early interest in psychiatry was reignited in 1988 at St. Ann’s Psychiatric Hospital (Trinidad & Tobago).
I emigrated to England in 1990. I acquired diverse experience in various psychiatric disciplines at renowned services in and around London (UK) and Cambridge (UK), culminating in membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 1997. My pursuit of excellence took me to into the Maudsley training scheme culminating in the Certificate of Completion of Training in forensic psychiatry in 2003. In 2012, I served as a Medical Director at Cygnet HealthCare. I am recognised as a trained manager. I gained experience as a (former) accredited medical examiner to the General Medical Council and a medical member in Her Majesty’s Courts and Tribunals Service up to July 2023.

Between 1997 and 1999, valuable experience at Rampton High Secure hospital seeded a specialised focus in forensic psychiatry of female mentally disordered offenders (FMDO). My special interest developed further over the years to the present time in assessment, management and treatment of personality disorders in both males and females.
Further knowledge and skills were developed in disorders of intellectual disability; recognising that a significant proportion of forensic cases involved those types of patients.

My academic achievements include an LLB(Hons) law degree, Diploma in Management, Certificate in Social Sciences, and other certifications in Creativity & Innovation, and Critical Thinking. I am recognised by Amnesty International as a Human Rights Defender.

My experience of managing risk in High Secure Care at Rampton, Broadmoor and The State Hospital (Carstairs in Scotland), brought novel approaches and improved standards to Medium Secure settings, working through into community care.

I now function as an independent practitioner. My clinical interests encompass a wide range of situations: personality disorder, disorders of intellectual disability, attention deficit disorder, and factitious disorders. I have been trained as an expert witness, which means I can give impartial evidence to the Courts. I only accept instructions from lawyers when I am satisfied that I am well instructed. I am not motivated by potential earnings from that work.

Fearlessly committed to improving psychological functioning of patients, I work within a bio-psychosocial model of care - emphasising parity, equity and equality in care delivery. I respect cultures and diversity. I apply uncompromisingly ethical, legal and business standards in all my work. With three decades of knowledge, training and experience, I relish working with complexity in mental disorders.
