Dr Rob Sutherland

I suffer from severe clostraphobia and had to get an Mri under sedation. Dr Sutherland was wonderful and although I was literly shaking in my boots, he (and the nurses) managed to get me calm enough to get the job done. My sincere thanks to them all. I had previously failed to even get in the scanner at a private hospital!

As a claustrophobic and anxious patient, who had failed a previous attempt at having an MRI, I was very anxious to return for another attempt with the help of sedation. I really appreciated the phone call from Dr Sutherland in advance if my appointment, to explain everything that would happen on the day and to answer any questions I had. Dr Sutherland was very respectful of my anxiety and put my mind at ease. On the day of the scan he explained everything again and made sure I understood and was happy to proceed. I had the sedation and the MRI and am very grateful to Dr Sutherland for being so caring, approachable and professional, before, during and after the scan. It was a relief to know I was in safe hands. Thank you Dr Sutherland.

Despite Dr Sutherland being called out to work the previous evening, he made a special effort to be there for my mri scan. Otherwise it would have to have been cancelled. He puts me at ease and explains everything. He listens and asks if you any questions. I needed a scan on three different areas and he was the sensible one who said we will do them all at the same time. He even phoned me at home to explain what he was going to arrange. He also remembered me from 6 years ago. Certainly goes the extra mile for you. It’s great to feel that he cares about you.

Very friendly, put a nervous patient at ease. Very positive approach in letting me know what I thought couldn't be achieved could. He was right, I had to have an MRI scan, and cope with Claustrophobic feelings at the same time, I had sedation and felt like I was only in the scanner for one minute, but it was 20 mins. Thank you very much Dr Sutherland, it meant so much to me to get this done.

As a long standing sufferer or claustrophobia I was highly anxious about having a MRI scan.Dr Rob Sutherland provided excellent service and advice.He put me totally at ease with his easy going manner and professionalism.Overall I had a first class experience.

Bruce and I received 5 star treatment on what was a potentially stressful time. But the care and attention we were given by the staff and all the team at the DCN unit at the Western General was exceptional. Special thanks are due to Rob Sutherland the anaesthetist who greeted us with his team on arrival and his friendly approachable manner put my husband. Immediately at his ease and made his MRI scan much more bearable

Dr Sutherland took the time to explain the procedure thoroughly, putting me at ease. I was extremely nervous, but he reassured me, answered all our questions , and I felt I was in safe hands. He took the time to visit me in the recovery ward ensuring I was okay before going home. He is a very caring person.

I am claustrophobic and he was able to put me at ease and gave me a good description of what would happen about my MRI scan. He was very kind and was interested in how the procedure would affect me. I was sedated to go into the scanner and after the scan I wondered what I had been afraid of.

Dr Rob Sutherland is one of the nicest doctors i have met. Totally understood my position. I suffer from acute claustrophobia and panic attacks.....he helped me through my procedure by explaining what would be going on in terms I understood. Was patient with me when he could see i was struggling a bit. If I ever needed to have this procedure or any other procedures done in the future I certainly hope he would be the doctor on duty. First Class.
