I have had numerous operations on my knee and at the last operation in Newcastle upon tyne I asked if I could have a new knee as I was getting into the same situation with my knee as the other times had problems with it. They said no that they were the specialist and it only needed to be cleaned out again like the other times when they told me repeatedly that I was to young to have a new knee. On moving to Shireoaks and having registered with the Newgate Medial Group, I went to see Dr Newstead and told him what had happened with my leg before, I am now 68 years old, and that it was getting the same I was on lots of pain killers and they were not doing any good. So he was very good and listened to me and sent me for test for a new knee operation. This I have had done and am on the road to recovery.

My Dr recently retired and i was refered over to him on my first visit and hopefully my last he did not seem very interested, seemed impatient, unsympathetic and offhand. He made me feel very uncomfortable and I his whole manner was abrupt and rushed. I would never see him again and would not recommend him.no wonder i was the only one in the waiting area to see him ditto from the previous review

Dr Newstead listened to my concerns over my life limiting condition and it's side effects, and helped me regain confidence with certain aspects of it for which I am truly grateful.

Having read a previous review I feel I must give my very different opinion. I have seen Doctor Newstead several times since he started at the practice (sometimes on an urgent basis) and have always been treated with the utmost courtesy and professionalism. He has always been quick to refer me for more specialist care and has been very helpful in providing me with written documentation when necessary. I would not hesitate to recommend him.

My own GP retired in April and I was then transferred to Dr Newstead's list. However in the last 6 months I have had cause to see him and found the experience very satisfying. He immediately puts one at ease, is very approachable, efficient and LISTENS to my "problems" with a sensitive ear. He is not the pompous stereotype old fashioned doctor who "knows best", but a genuine one to one negotiator. So far I am most impressed.
