Would highly recommend. Professional, caring and empathic. Down to earth and approachable. Efficient. Good continuity of care as she always sees me at out patient appointments. Very helpful re covid and need to shield. Dr Mcavoy has been seeing me for about 10 yrs and have complete trust in her abilities and judgement.

Received Gastroscopy exam from Dr McAvoy. She was professional and slickly competent whilst being caring at the same time. The experience was completely comfortable and pain free, not even a cough. Would not hesitate to recommend her care. 10/10. Thank you.

I saw Dr McAvoy yesterday, have been seeing her for a number of years now and I could not ask for a better GI doctor. She is kind, compassionate, knowledgeable and very approachable. I can contact her at any time and she will address any issues I may be having. With regards regular check ups etc, I had problems having my colonoscopy last year & it was abandoned twice, making me very nervous ! Dr McAvoy then carried it out herself and I had no issues whatsoever, she is very skilled and patient in carrying out this procedure. I no longer worry about having this done which is a big relief. Unlike other departments, where you see whichever Dr is in clinic and therefore you rarely see the same person, Dr McAvoy always sees you if you are booked into her clinic. I would highly recommend Dr McAvoy & her team in Outpatients, they do a great job .

I am a carer for my friend who has been chronically unwell and has been in and out of hospital for several years. She has been unheard and as a result built up fear and distrusted many hospital staff causing more fear and resentment. Dr MacAvoy changed that completely. She even managed to have her undertake several very necessary procedures owing to the complete trust and belief we had in her. She is thorough, compassionate and extremely professional. Yes the clinic is busy and you do have to wait but she provides the continuity that is so badly lacking in many specialities today. Shes thorough and didnt stop until we had a clear path and diagnosis. She communicated well with other care givers and she went over and above the call of duty. We have recomended her to other family members. My friend is now under the care of the paliative care team but our time with Dr MacAvoy meant that her attitude towards other care givers was more open and trustfull and for that I cant thank her enough.

I had an appointment with this Doctor. The meeting was late by15min. During the meeting I felt rushed, I tried to slow her down and let me talk but she kept interrupting me and telling me how I felt before I was able to finish the sentence. I was having the problems not her. Afterwards I felt very upset and returned back to my GP amd asked to be referred to somebody else. I wont be seeing Dr Mcavoy again.
