I am a Consultant Rheumatologist & Physician at Luton & Dunstable University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust having completed my dual speciality training in the East of England. I am also the director of research and development at the organisation. I am the lead clinician for award winning early arthritis service, research on biologic therapies and inflammatory arthritis associated lung diseases MDT service. I have been involved in more than 40 clinical trials utilising biological therapies for autoimmune conditions. My other main interests are early inflammatory arthritis including Ultrasound use and metabolic bone health. Over the past five years, I have authored over 90 abstracts, presented at international conferences and published more than 25 papers in peer reviewed journals. I am the department lead for GP education, I have organised bi-annual sessions for primary care physicians and regularly lecture for CCG and medicine optimisation teams. I am the lead for early arthritis service and won the national best practice commendation award in 2018 for cost effective achievement of disease targets, whilst reducing biologic use. I am a mentor for professionals’ postgraduate training including extended scope physiotherapists, general practitioner and specialist nurses. I am a reviewer for sixteen journals including BMJ, PLos, One, BMJ Case reports, BMJ Postgraduate Medical Journal and various rheumatology journals. I am also a member of various rheumatology research panels and advisory boards worldwide. Awards won: British Society of Rheumatology Commendation prize at National Best Practice Awards 2018, Luton Clinical Excellence Award Level 4 2017, EULAR Bursary award for oral presentation 2017, RCP John Glyn Bursary for service to research 2016, BSR EULAR congress bursary for poster presentation 2015, Luton Clinical Excellence Award Level 1 2015, IOF Conference bursary for abstract presentation 2014, CRN Research Nurse funding award 2013 (ongoing) and the Luton Runner up for community health provision award.
