This consultant always double checks CT scans if he thinks the original is incorrect as proved by a doctor saying I had a clot when it was in fact a small progression of tumour. I was diagnosed with tumours in my brain and he immediately got me radiotherapy at Nottingham city hospital. He is very approachable and answers our questions also liaises with my thyroid consultant and my lung nurse. He is due to leave this month and have no idea who is replacing him which is a course of concern. Please in this day is and age we need consultants of his calibre get him to stay.

I have been a patient of Dr Mohamed Mahgoub for little over a year now, after being transferred from Glenfield Hospital. I seen him about six times and had a telephone conversation with him when one of my appointments was cancelled due to the Covid Pandemic. I was really happy that I had been transferred and put into the care of him.He was very caring and put me at my ease belaying any fears I had after being told that I had a growth on my right lung. He organised another Scan for me and a Ten Week course of Radiotherapy at the Royal in early January of this year. I had another Scan in early April where he confirmed that the Growth had got no bigger. I had another Scan on the 1/8/20 and a meeting with him today, and he informed me that nothing had changed, which was great news.He also said that he would be leaving at the end of August, which left me feeling very sad.In my opinion he is a great asset to the Leicester Royal Infirmary can't you get him to change his mind Please I'm not the only one who feels like myself. You can't improve without him.

Dr Mahgoub explained everything in detail in layman’s terms. He took the time to listen to our questions and then gave answers based on the facts that he had from my dad’s various scans and blood tests. He has a very friendly manner and nothing was too much trouble. We felt at ease and have total trust in what Dr Mahgoub recommends going forward.

Over more than three months of testing, reviews, diagnosis and re-diagnosis we have found Dr Mahgoub to be completely truthful, skilled and compassionate. Due to his persistence, knowledge and liaison with both his and other teams and skilled doctors he has raised us from an initial zero prospect of treatment and hope to a 50/50 chance of longer term survival.
