Over more than three months of testing, reviews, diagnosis and re-diagnosis we have found Dr Mahgoub to be completely truthful, skilled and compassionate. Due to his persistence, knowledge and liaison with both his and other teams and skilled doctors he has raised us from an initial zero prospect of treatment and hope to a 50/50 chance of longer term survival. Dr M took on my case despite already being told I would not benefit from chemo and for that he will always be remembered. He has a great bedside manner and always took the time to listen and answer questions without creating any stress and feeling of being rushed. His drive to try and support his patients meant that I was given chemo despite my initial diagnosis that I was not going to benefit from it or any treatment for that matter. He listened when I said I wanted to at least try, which was the most important thing for me and my family. He suggested next steps in terms of getting testing done to possibly find another treatment which may help me to at least prolong my life a little more. He took his initiative and suggested an alternative to the drug named in the report I obtained and led in trying to obtain this from a company abroad. Despite the endless number of calls and emails, his persistence gave us hope that I would be able to obtain the medication at some point and thankfully it paid off. He was clear in his dialogue and terminology used to explain matters which for my mother as an EAL person meant I felt comfortable in knowing what was happening at each stage. Dr M kept my daughter in the loop even late in the evening or weekends just demonstrating his dedication to patient care and follow ups. Only recommendation I would make (mainly because I do feel everyone should have feedback to improve) is to try and avoid repeating discussions from prior conversations so that the precious appointment time can be used most effectively esp when knowing how busy doctors are so actually it is to save some time for himself more than anything else.
