I found Dr Liz Kingston very helpful and informative regarding what would take place as a patient. She phoned the evening before the surgery to let me know what she would be doing and asking relevant information about me. On the morning of the surgery she came to see me and because the surgeon said he may change procedure she immediately explained she would also change the type of anaesthesia she would use. She, and her colleague were very friendly and made me feel extremely at ease before my surgery. Thank you

Thank you for your lovely feedback. I'm glad to hear that the pre op call was helpful, and I think it's important to have time to consider the information given so you can feel more confident going into theatre. As we discussed we always have to make any plan together as a team of patient, surgeon and anaesthetist, and be prepared to respond to any new information as needed- I think our final plan worked really well as a result. I'm happy you felt at ease and will pass on your kind comments to the rest of the team who will be pleased to hear that. Wishing you well for your post op recovery.

more like a good friend than a doctor, so warm and friendly, put a very nervous patient at ease and kept me that way throughout the operation , I wasn't scared because of her and i thank her for that. And talked to me clearly as I'm hard of hearing Please don't change you are great as you are!

Thank you so much for your kind words. I enjoyed our time together in theatre and it was a pleasure for me too! I think one of the big things anaesthetists have to do for their patients is to carefully explain options, and provide reassurance so that patients can approach their operations with confidence and calmness- I'm really glad to hear you didn't feel scared as a result of our discussion. Communication skills are key for any doctor, but I think even more so in anaesthetics. I have a close family member with hearing impairment, so I think it's very important to ensure hearing impaired patients don't miss out on key information or get isolated due to communication problems. I hope you are recovering well from your operation, and wish you all the best for the future.

Thank you for your kind feedback- it brought a real smile to my face to hear how satisfied you were with your care. It's so important that patients are fully involved with decision making about their own care, and I'm a big believer in sharing information to support my patients to feel in control of their own choices. I hope you are feeling on the road to recovery after your operation, and wish you all the best.

Liz cared for me extremely well! She explained everything in great detail, outlining the pros and cons of each option. We eventually decided on a spinal anaesthesia as I was concerned about going under a GA. Nothing was too much trouble for Liz, she played her own theatre playlist in theatre for me to keep me occupied during my surgery and sat with me chatting throughout the whole thing. She was very observant and caring. She provided analgesia for me when I needed and monitored me well! I honestly could not recommend Liz enough. Such a scary experience made comfortable and at times even pleasant, which I really did not expect! Thank you!

Thank you so much for your feedback. I am a real fan of spinal anaesthesia for appropriate procedures, and think it can be a great option for many patients- avoiding the need to go to sleep/ feel confused after surgery/ quicker return to eating and drinking/ great pain relief and no sore throat from breathing tubes! Music can be really relaxing in theatre and I love being able to share that with patients- it brings a smile to everyone's faces! I was so pleased I could make a scary thing manageable for you, and was happy to hear you even had some pleasant moments too. I hope this experience gives you a positive memory of anaesthetic care, and that this will be helpful for you if you ever need an anaesthetic again in the future. Wishing you well for your recovery.

I was immensely impressed with the skill and knowledge of Dr Liz Kingston and with the time and care taken both before and following my recent surgery. I felt I was listened to and had anything I needed to know explained to me fully. I felt relaxed and confident for going into surgery and the individual time taken to speak with me before, during and following my surgery was very reassuring and much appreciated.

Thank you for your kind feedback after your recent procedure. One of the things I think make the biggest difference to my patients is taking enough time to explain options, discuss any concerns and hopefully reassure each person enough that they can go into their operation with confidence, feeling relaxed and safe. I'm really glad to hear you felt listened to, and had the chance to ask what you needed in advance of theatre. I hope you are now recovering well, and wish you well for the future.
