I had the honour of being cared for by Dr Elena Ghetau during my ADHD assessment and titration with Psychiatry UK. I’ve been a patient with them for just over a year. Dr Elena is without doubt the best Dr I’ve ever had the pleasure of being cared for by. She is compassionate, patient, understanding, gentle, informative, and just had the most genuine and lovely heart. It’s honestly a sadness for me being transferred to shared care with my GP. Dr Elena is simply wonderful and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her again and to come back to her in the future for care. She’s an absolute angel and I cannot express enough gratitude to her for her collaborative, thorough, and first class care.

I am a woman recently diagnosed with ADHD at 26 and have been going through the titration process. The whole process with Dr Ghetau has been great, there were some issues with my informant form but she was still able to proceed to the assessment without it while I tried to get a new copy to her. She made sure to try to keep me within the hour slot for the appointment and was polite and clear if I was getting off track and helped keep it on topic. She was very reassuring about my initial worries and my anxiety around the appointment and was also very reassuring that the experiences I had been having were not inherently due to a flaw in my character after all. She has been easy to reach and has been really helpful regarding the way I wanted to approach medications, offering alternatives if things weren't working and handling my impatience and desperation to start medication like a true professional. As with many people with adhd or on the spectrum, I have a few friends who have seen their experiences mirrored in my story and I have told them if they ever decide to get assessed then I would whole heartedly recommend Dr Ghetau without a shadow of a doubt. I know at least two other people who also saw her and have said all the same things I've said here. Being diagnosed has changed my life, I know that's a cliche but it's true. I have started implementing ADHD techniques for my finances, for organising work and my home life and for managing my weight, which alongside the medication has really started turning my life around. I'm saving money now, and I've lost a few pounds I had been piling on over the years, I'm exercising regularly and I've been complimented at work for how well I'm doing. I can't stress enough how vital this was for giving my life direction.

I can't recommend Dr Ghetau enough. I am a woman in my forties, getting a late-in-life diagnosis and I chose Dr Ghetau specifically because of her specialities. She did my ADHD assessment, diagnosis and prescription for relevant medication. The whole process excellent from start to finish. She was understanding and communicative and was able to help me understand where ADHD was effecting my life. The diagnosis and treatment have been life-changing for me.

Since an early age, there have always been aspects of my life where I have struggled in one way or another. I struggled at school and building long lasting relationships was difficult, or impossible. As the years went on, I developed crippling anxiety and depression which impacted my life massively. Only as I grew older and settled into a new job, it became apparent that I needed additional support. I was referred to Psychiatry - UK by my employer where I met online with Dr Ghetau. I was immediately made to feel at ease and was able to answer any questions that I had. On talking with Dr Ghetau, she diagnosed me with with ASD and a strong possibility that I also had ADHD. Even though I was a little shocked - but I thought it was a strong possibility - Dr Ghetau was able to reassure me and talk through my concerns and give structured and tailored advice. I feel that this was such a huge turning point for me and has allowed me to exceed in my role and greatly improve my quality of life. Thank you again Dr Ghetau. AARON

To put it simply, Dr. Ghetau was absolutely amazing and has helped me so much in such a short amount of time, something I cannot say about any any of my experiences with mental health on the NHS. I was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome by CAMHS at a very young age but have always had abnormalities in my symptoms, e.g. instead of keeping everything tidy I tend to let things go messy which suggested potential ADHD. However, this was never explored under CAMHS and so my issues with focus, behaviour etc. have always been blamed on the Asperger's. However, as I got older, I really started to notice how many of my symptoms were similar to that of ADHD and so I asked my social worker how long it would take to be diagnosed on the NHS and she said it would take 4 years at minimum... After being told that, I was in the very fortunate position to have my family willing to pay for a private diagnosis and so I found Psychiatry-UK and booked an appointment with Dr. Ghetau based on her experience listed on her profile. In this appointment, Dr. Ghetau was really kind, understanding, friendly and very knowledgeable. As someone with Asperger's, I do find communicating with others challenging but Dr. Ghetau was very accomodating and so this wasn't a problem. We talked through many of my symptoms that I had when I was a child and also as an adult, and by the end of the appointment, Dr. Ghetau diagnosed me with ADHD in addition to my Asperger's. She offered all of the appropriate medications as per NICE guidelines and, with her support, I chose the one which I thought would be best for me. After this, I was referred to a titration nurse to get my medication to the right dose, help with any side effects etc. so that prescribing of the medication could be handed over to my GP as part of a shared care agreement. The service I received during titration was excellent and made me feel much more comfortable trying the ADHD medication. Before a shared care agreement was sent, I had a review with Dr. Ghetau to ensure that the medication was working and I was tolerating it, this went really well. I was really pleased with the improvements in my symptoms and the support I received from Dr. Ghetau from start to finish. To be clear, this was night and day difference compared to the 4 different psychiatrists I've seen on the NHS in the past in every aspect. Dr. Ghetau was by far the most compassionate, helpful and brilliant doctor I have ever seen in my life and cannot recommend her enough to anyone that needs to see a psychiatrist. (A quick tip for private prescriptions; try and phone lots of different pharmacies in your area once you know exactly what medication and dose you'll be taking as some will offer the medication for a lower cost than others. Pharmacies in large supermarkets e.g. Tesco often have the lowest prices.) W
