To put it simply, Dr. Ghetau was absolutely amazing and has helped me so much in such a short amount of time, something I cannot say about any any of my experiences with mental health on the NHS. I was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome by CAMHS at a very young age but have always had abnormalities in my symptoms, e.g. instead of keeping everything tidy I tend to let things go messy which suggested potential ADHD. However, this was never explored under CAMHS and so my issues with focus, behaviour etc. have always been blamed on the Asperger's. However, as I got older, I really started to notice how many of my symptoms were similar to that of ADHD and so I asked my social worker how long it would take to be diagnosed on the NHS and she said it would take 4 years at minimum... After being told that, I was in the very fortunate position to have my family willing to pay for a private diagnosis and so I found Psychiatry-UK and booked an appointment with Dr. Ghetau based on her experience listed on her profile. In this appointment, Dr. Ghetau was really kind, understanding, friendly and very knowledgeable. As someone with Asperger's, I do find communicating with others challenging but Dr. Ghetau was very accomodating and so this wasn't a problem. We talked through many of my symptoms that I had when I was a child and also as an adult, and by the end of the appointment, Dr. Ghetau diagnosed me with ADHD in addition to my Asperger's. She offered all of the appropriate medications as per NICE guidelines and, with her support, I chose the one which I thought would be best for me. After this, I was referred to a titration nurse to get my medication to the right dose, help with any side effects etc. so that prescribing of the medication could be handed over to my GP as part of a shared care agreement. The service I received during titration was excellent and made me feel much more comfortable trying the ADHD medication. Before a shared care agreement was sent, I had a review with Dr. Ghetau to ensure that the medication was working and I was tolerating it, this went really well. I was really pleased with the improvements in my symptoms and the support I received from Dr. Ghetau from start to finish. To be clear, this was night and day difference compared to the 4 different psychiatrists I've seen on the NHS in the past in every aspect. Dr. Ghetau was by far the most compassionate, helpful and brilliant doctor I have ever seen in my life and cannot recommend her enough to anyone that needs to see a psychiatrist. (A quick tip for private prescriptions; try and phone lots of different pharmacies in your area once you know exactly what medication and dose you'll be taking as some will offer the medication for a lower cost than others. Pharmacies in large supermarkets e.g. Tesco often have the lowest prices.) W
