Review of General Surgery Day Surgery Unit
15th September 2021

Having even a minor operation under local anaesthetic is stressful. From the moment I entered the Day Surgery unit I was met with efficiency, care and friendliness by all staff, which I found reassuring.

Suggested improvements
The staff do their best to offer everyone as much privacy as is possible but the layout of the building means that they are required to transfer patients to and from the operating theatres along busy public walkways. Not an ideal situation.

Review of Day Surgery Unit General Card

every single member of the team was thoroughly professional and caring. Mr Kaba was clear concise understanding and calming. His anaesthetist ( I apologise for forgetting his name) was informative calm and very helpful. The other team members of note are: - Danni, Annie and Rachel. All were great. I did not want to be there but needed to be there and the experience was as good as anyone could have wanted. My thanks to all concerned and that is simply not enough

Suggested improvements
I cannot think of anything that would have made it better for me.

My condition does occur occasionally but I don’t identify it as a long-term condition.

Suggested improvements
Nothing. I was given good advice, useful exercises and felt like I was listened to.

Review of Hysteroscopy - Warwick Hospital

The care and support provided by the team I met today was superb; they are lovely people. I was anxious and they put me at ease.

Suggested improvements
There is nothing for the team to improve on, but they do need a bigger room I think. The procedure requires a team and the space wasn't big enough for them. I am not saying that from a COVID perspective, just in relation to the pieces of equipment and number of people in the small space. They coped amazingly considering that.

I went into hospital for a c section. The actual procedure went extremely smoothly and the theatre staff, midwives, doctors and obstetricians were all great. I couldn’t fault them! They made me feel at ease and explained everything well. It was the after care that I found to be somewhat shocking. Once I was back on the ward I really felt let down. I wasn’t offered help to wash or to get out of bed. When I buzzed often staff would take a long time to respond or not at all. I just felt neglected. If it was my first experience of having a baby I would have left feeling really upset and nervous about facing going home after with my baby. As it happens I was desperate to get out! On one occasion I was offered bed sheets to change my bed from theatre. I was expected to do this myself after having undergone major abdominal surgery. I felt like I was asking too much when I buzzed for advice or just reassurance about my baby. I was left to manage my own medication which I think is terrible when you are sleep deprived and managing a baby at the same time. I was also discharged with not enough medication for the week and asked to contact my G.P for more when I called up the ward on my return having not realised I didn’t have enough medication. I really was shocked at how new mums are made to feel and I’m so glad I won’t be planning on having another baby!
