I had a complete knee replacement - quite daunting when you don't know what to expect. The pain on the second night was difficult to handle but with the meds it was bearable. The nurses are outstanding and cannot be faulted. It would have been nice to be able to discuss the operation in more detail with the very fine surgeon after the procedure I was in a private room and it was lovely, overlooking the tennis courts. Unfortunately the woman serving food didn't offer me a menu for 2 days but of the food only the soup was edible.
Staff are mostly cheerful and caring but very busy.
yes I can safely recommend the team at my hospital was great the doctor excellent and iwas kept informed at all times
Having been referred to the centre as an NHS patient from being seen privately at Spire St Anthony's OPD, I can confirm that the standard of care and the quality of the facility was equally as good if not better than at St Anthony's, and which is where I have worked for the last 18 years.
What I wanted from the EOC going in for my hip replacement was clinical professionalism, communication skills and hygiene. Happy to report EOC had all this in abundance. Furthermore, there was a vocational enthusiasm and humour on the part of every member of staff I encountered. I felt they truly cared about my operation and subsequent recovery and did all they could to ensure I knew what was important and how best to harness the medical facilities at the centre. This 'enthusiasm' was in abundance in the wee hours of the morning as well the day.
Just to name check: Fatima, Pat, Carol, Sam and the indefatigable Rowan. Thank you all for giving me a new lease of life.
All staff were very kind and the medical care was excellent. I appreciated the space in the ward with chance to get to know fellow patients. It was also very quiet with no distracting noises from outside.
Food could be improved - often quite late and getting cold. Method of delivering choice by staff reading out list didn't provide all the options.
Even more concerned about staff not having time to help with personal hygiene, especially in days immediately after the operation. No offer to help with bed-washing, and no suggestion of help with showers. Result in my case was a rash, probably produced from sweating and I was not offered any remedy for soreness and discomfort. This probably worsened by the plastic/vinyl mattress coverings which makes one very hot, That is probably can't be changed but nursing staff should be more aware of the problems that can result.
Can't fault the care given, staff work very hard to provide the best service possible.
I came for pre op assessment. The unit was very well sign posted.
The staff were all very cheerful, polite and helpful and there was no waiting around.
A good experience and much improved since my last pre op assessment in 2008. This was in the main building.
All good, staff very friendly and helpful. Very streamlined.
Care generally excellent- kin, brisk and efficient.
Bells answered promptly. Food drinks and snacks promptly served preferences catered for.
