All staff were very kind and the medical care was excellent. I appreciated the space in the ward with chance to get to know fellow patients. It was also very quiet with no distracting noises from outside. Food could be improved - often quite late and getting cold. Method of delivering choice by staff reading out list didn't provide all the options. Even more concerned about staff not having time to help with personal hygiene, especially in days immediately after the operation. No offer to help with bed-washing, and no suggestion of help with showers. Result in my case was a rash, probably produced from sweating and I was not offered any remedy for soreness and discomfort. This probably worsened by the plastic/vinyl mattress coverings which makes one very hot, That is probably can't be changed but nursing staff should be more aware of the problems that can result.
