Review of Urgent Treatment Centre - Children,
2nd January 2021

I was hoping that after calling 111 and being given a time slot we would have had a slightly shorter wait. But given the current situation the staff are doing a great job and once we were actually seen things started moving fairly quickly. All staff in the UTC and main A&E were very helpful and caring.

It would have been easier to get sent straight into Paediatric A&E after the initial triage as that did add a couple of hours on at the start.

Review of Urgent Treatment Centre - Adult, written by a patient
30th December 2020

During this difficult time with the COVID pandemic it must be difficult for the staff and hospital. I was treated in a dignified and thorough manner although 6 hours in total at URC and A & E is a long time.

I would have been re-assured if the seats/ cubicles in waiting area were disinfected after each person or an allocated seat was given while a patient was there if at all possible

All of the staff at the Urgent Care centre were extremely helpful and polite. They were clearly under a lot of pressure from the amount of referrals from 111 but they were clear with directions and very helpful to all patients. They advised that I would be waiting for around 2.5hrs which I could completely understand given the current situation but I was seen in less than that time.

I was seen quickly, despite my injury not being very urgent; the COVID procedures were clear and the staff issuing masks etc were all friendly and welcoming; social distancing measures in the waiting room were clear; the doctors were kind and I didn’t feel like the time with them was rushed, even though I could see they were very busy; my injury was treated. I was really impressed and appreciative of the quality of care and the kindness of the staff.

I had to speak to psych liaison against my wishes; I was discharged with opioids which I wasn’t aware was going to happen and would have opted not to have if I’d known beforehand.

I was dealt with quickly and efficiently by all the staff. Although it was not possible to see an opthamologist locally, the nurse tried Ashford, Royal Surrey and Frimley Park, she soon had a referral letter ready and details if London hospital. I realise these are very difficult times for the NHS and was impressed with how I was treated.

No, treated well in a timely fashion.
