My son came in with illness , the way the man at the door treated us was disgusting I have worked for the nhs for many a year and have never treated anyone the way he was treating the patients coming into a&E to revive help . And the lady at the front desk shouting out your details for everyone to hear. And to be rude when your asking some questions. Very poor

Tel your staff that other people are also dealing with thier own issue and they are coming for help with the health not to be treated like dirt

I came in as I was feeling suicidal and was told I might as well go home by the mental health nurse after waiting 6 hours.

On Tuesday, 15th December, I went to see my GP because of a pain that suddenly developed in my neck and a sharp stabbing pain that, periodically, happened just under my left shoulder blade. At my GP's there was concern over my blood pressure and erratic heart beat and they sent me, as a matter or urgency, to A&E St. Peter's to get things checked out. I was told by my GP practice that they had telephoned through to A&E who would be aware of the situation and were expecting me. My GP gave me the ECG details that he had taken, along with Blood Tests to take with me to A&E. My Wife came with me to make sure that I got through to A&E itself, although we knew, because of COVD-19, she wouldn't be allowed to accompany me. When we arrived at the initial check in point, at the reception desk, my wife explained the situation. The girl on the reception desk said that there were no details in their system. My wife suggested that, since our GP Surgery had telephone through that, perhaps, their System was not yet up to date. She then asked if we had a letter from the GP. My wife repeated that the GP had telephoned through because the matter was urgent. The girl then typed some details into the System and asked for both our telephone numbers. She then told us to take a seat until we were called. We waited for a few moments and I was called into a consulting room. My wife asked if she could accompany me because she was concerned that no details were held in the system and she's better at explaining things than me. The chap said he'd rather she didn't and asked if we had any paperwork from our GP. My wife showed him the ECG Results and Blood Test Samples but all he said was ' I can't handle Blood Test Results here. You'll have to take them back to your GP'. My wife told me to keep them with me and to give them to the Doctor once I'd seen him/her. The chap chipped in 'Well you won't be able to go with him, they won't let you in'. She said that she fully understood that, she just wanted to make sure that everything was captured properly and went on to explain things to him. After that part of the registration was finished she left me to go through to A&E itself. The girl, Imogen, who saw me through A&E was extremely pleasant and helpful, very personable, in fact. Obviously, it took time to go through all the necessary steps and tests (about 7 hours in all) - but that's quite normal within A&E departments. I was told that I'd had my irregular heart beat for a long time and that it was nothing to be concerned about. All the other tests taken were OK with the exception of my Blood Pressure which was High. She recommended that I check-in with my GP for the next few days to get this monitored. I asked about the pain in my neck and shoulder and she said, 'Just keep taking the paracetamol and applying the Voltorol Gel'. I was given no medication, paperwork to give to my GP or any kind of reference number. She did say that all details, including what tests had been taken and their results would all be sent directly through to my GP. My wife came to collect me from the hospital and we went home high spirited because we thought there was no cause for concern or alarm after all. On Thursday, 17th December, I went to check in with my GP, mainly to discuss the High Blood Pressure checks. I was surprised that he didn't seem to have any information with regards to what had happened in A&E. So whether the details had no yet been sent, I have no idea. However, he was really concerned that no action had been taken with regards to my irregular heart beat and that I'd been given no paperwork or any medication. He'd also determined, I assume from his own blood test results, that there was a problem with my prostate that he was extremely concerned about and I felt that he may have thought this had something to do with my underlying pains. For this he has referred me, urgently, to a Urologist whom I have an appointment with on 24th December. For the heart condition situation he has also referred me to a Cardiologist for further diagnosis. So, within the course of 2 days, I have gone from thinking my health is perfectly fine to thinking that I may need major surgery, and, where the Prostate situation is concerned, I could have prostate cancer. What a turn around!!!!!! I don't understand how a Hospital can consider something no problem at all whereas your Doctor's surgery has very different concerns. Forgive me, but I would have thought that a major hospital was far more equipped to give more accurate and trustworthy diagnosis than your GP. So, please forgive me if I'm a little disgruntled and questioning 'What was the actual point in going to A&E in the 1st place? I suppose we'll just have to wait and see - and A Happy Christmas To You Too'!!!. That was sarcastic, by the way. Sorry I'm so angry but, really, what do you expect?

I realise that many people who work within a Hospital System are Administrative Staff but, really, they should learn some proper interpersonal skills for dealing with members of the public whom, I am well aware, at times, can be extremely difficult and rude. However, no-one wants to be in a Hospital and when you are referred there by your GP, people handling those individuals should surely be more equipped and professional in these situations. They should certainly be able to display kindness and understanding to their patients.

From arriving. and checking in through to the nurse and doctors, I was asked in caring way, checked, tests carried out and reviewed in the most Professional way.... what more could you ask for. Amazing people, Amazing system and Amazing Care. Thank you for being there.

My daughter had fallen on her face onto concrete and we just needed to be sure everything was ok with her head, face and eye. She was assessed by a doctor called Ben who suggested an X-ray just to be sure after examining her. He explained everything to my daughter and she felt comfortable. This was great as she’s autistic and often asks lots of questions. She was a little nervous about the X-ray process but assured because I was there and the radiographer put her at ease too. She was proud of her first X-ray! Thankfully there was no fracture! Dr Ben explained some aftercare and things to look out for. I was grateful that she was fine internally.

The waiting time could have been better as she was bordering a meltdown but we just got through it.

I came in regarding reduced foetal movement, I was absolutely hysterical by the time we got to hospital and nearly hyperventilating, the kind midwife reassured me, made it possible for my partner to stay by my side as we awaited the sound of baby’s heartbeat, and gave me a thorough check over with recommendations for ongoing care. I’m so appreciative of how I was treated on one of the most stressful days of my life. Thank you to the midwifery team.

We were sent to the hot spot area despite having a Walk in letter stating UTI as the reason for temperature. Other patients in the waiting room were seeking Covid treatment and were not separated from us. The blood pressure monitor and other equipment was not being cleaned between patients in the hot spot area. The health care assistant was simply going between without sanitising either himself of the equipment.
