Review of Gynaecology Outpatients written by
21st September 2017

Colposcopy. Very professional and quick- smallest speculum used when I asked. My little said I was under the care of a female so having a male was a bit of a shock. He was brilliant but I wasn't aware so it just took me back slightly.

Review of Neuropsychology written by a patient
20th September 2017

The hospital appointment was 1st. class. The ncssary transport arrangements much less so. The ambulance was 35 mins early for pick-up, 1hr 50 mins for appointment. The neuropsychology doctor (Charlotte ?) rearranged things not to make the wait so long, though discharged early the ambulance was unavailable because the other intended passengers ( with an earlier, shorter appointment, refused to wait. This put the driver in a very difficult position.

Review of Cardiac Rehab written by a patient
19th September 2017

As per my treatment for the original heart attack, the service was extremely good. I was informed of any issues in good time (the main one being the cancellation of a session due to "staff emergency", where I was contacted in good time). I only had one issue, and this was dealt with properly at the time: I ended up getting one of the presentations twice (ironically, the diet one). This was sorted out by giving me the notes for the missing presentation for me to read up on later.

Review of Pre-Assessment written by a patient
19th September 2017

Didn't have long to wait for my appointment, and Sarah, completed my pre-op with complete understanding and professionalism. Had a couple of unexpected issues. But Sarah explained them in detail and I left feeling positive about my upcoming procedure. Thanks Sarah.

Review of Coral Ward written by a family member
18th September 2017

Hi there, Ref: Staff Laura Cottee unacceptable service, my wife having Caesarean section operation at labour on 12th Sept 17 at 19.52, later she was moved from HDU unit to Coral ward. That night to next day evening the staff are very friendly and caring, Which I was very much impressed. Morning my wife was told that she can go home, but due to severe pains which I replied, they said she can stay 13th Sept 17 night at coral ward, check her situation on 14th Sept 17 morning then can do the discharge. As agreed I went to home to drop my parents and return night to join my wife at coral ward. On the return around 9pm, my wife said, Laura Cottee came earlier and instructed that my wife and kid needs to be discharged soon, which she was shocked to hear and told to Laura Cottee that my husband will be back soon and speak to you . Hearing this I went to Laura and told, I have spoken twice this morning and evening with other midwifes that my wife is very weak and suffering with pains, rather going home she needs to be here so that she recovers and monitored, which they agreed so I was planned to speak about discharge on 14th Morning. Laura, ignoring my words said, she just arrived and the morning midwifes notes says my wife is healthy is ready to go home with the kid, my words are of no use to her. She later told that she will check the surgery wounds area of my wife before discharge and decide, later she straight away came and gave discharge medication and instructions, without talking anything of checking surgery wounds, upon my remind, she checked quickly and said she is perfect to go home. I told Laura, this is not professional, you are discharging at mid night in short notice, it's cold outside, I haven't prepared the house for the newborn and wife to arrive, need to call parents to arrange, then she replied "I am sorry I am not chucking you, just doing my job, for your wife pains I can't do anything, just she needs to take pain killers, which she can do at home, any urgency call the numbers on the book" Baby was crying all the way to home, it's really bad weather, my wife is struggling with pains, in night I need to organise the home to accommodate both. Horrible experience of discharge, Regard, S SAMA

Review of Eye Unit written by a patient
15th September 2017

Sadly I cannot make any possative comments regarding the eye clinic at Queens. I have been a patient in this clinic for some time and am aware of how the department works. On my last visit I was called for to undertake the initial eye test and administering eye drops but instead of being seen in one of the usual examination rooms I was taken to the eye emergency room. I was asked to sit on a seat just inside the door way. My personal details were checked in this very busy and noisy area. No privacy at all. I was then expected to read the eye chart whilst people walked between me and the eye chart. This is no way to conduct an important part of an eye test. Needless to say I didn't do as well as I should have done given the confusion going on around me. The nurse did make excuses for the need to work in this inappropriate area and that I shouldn't worry about the poor result of my test, apparently this part of my appointment counts for very little. As a driver with a known eye condition I wish to know that I am fit and safe to drive and that others in my position are also safe. If the eye clinic doesn't understand the importance of what they are doing, should they be doing it. I will not continue with my criticism of this clinic which would take too much time. The conclusion to my appointment was that despite my eye contition, that will not improve and most likely will worsen over time, it was considered realistic to discharge me. Being a sensible person I expressed my displeasure and insisted that I continued to be monitored. After some further discussion I was told I would be sent an appointment for 12 months time. I care about my eye sight even if Queens eye clinic does not. How many other patients get treated as badly as I did. Maybe elderly patients are worth less than younger people. I hope not.
