After having 2 heart attacks in feb 2021 at 52,naturally I worry if this could happen again,on the 13th may I felt quite unwell and decided to be safe would go to The Grange,Cwmbran to be checked out,You have to go to a member of staff in a hut outside to give your details which get put on a form, you then hand it in to the reception staff in the A+E department who don’t read it and ask you all the same questions, then against all odds you attempt to find a seat, which due to too many family members is practically impossible, which results in poorly people sitting on the floor while seats are taken by individuals who don’t need to be there, unless with a child or a vulnerable person,Triage, achieves nothing, back to fighting for a seat2 hours later, called in for blood pressure check, back to seat searching,1hour again, called in for ECG,back to seat searching,2hours later called by dr,explained next steps, which wouldn’t be any time soon, back to seat searching, this incompetence went on for a total on 9 hours, the waiting room isn’t fit for purpose, not enough room for wheelchair users, during a pandemic social distancing was impossible, hundreds of people every day touching the button to open the doors to enter and exit the department why are these not automatic, corridors barely wide enough for chairs and beds to be manouvered, corridors full of unnecessary items, and wondering looking staff who half the time rely on the patient to tell them why they are there,it’s like the blind leading the blind, patients sat with bowls of urine as know one follows up their patient,I know know where is perfect, but this place is perfect imperfection, nothing in this place works,I’m so glad I wasn’t taken there when I was ill,I can honestly say I don’t think I would be here now if I had, keeping in touch with family to keep them updated is impossible due to no WiFi unless you loose your seat and exit the building and stand as I did in the pouring rain to make a call, everything about this place is failing people who are at their most vulnerable,I hadn’t eaten or drunk since lunch time so by the time I got home it was a shocking 15 hours since I had anything as I wasn’t offered anything during my unbearable time in this so called Super Hospital, there in no continuity of care and unless you chase staff for results you don’t get them, total chaos,I do however have 1 positive point ,the elation I felt when told I could leave, this place is not fit for purpose and if we as patients can see it why can’t the pen pushers.

Was told to go to hospital by my Dr, got there fair play nurses were fantastic, however 7 hours later still no sign of Dr, the 2 meter rule is out the window, which is not very good when there's a pandemic about. Reception staff are quite abrupt and sharp with you. Only drink machine was cold drinks, really could do with a coffee machine. The a and e room is far to small considering it's a super hospital. I for one take my hat off to all medical staff but this hospital is just not working. So now after being up for over 24 hours I'm still none the wiser and still have this infection. Good job it wasn't sepsis like my Dr thought it was.

I was booked into this hospital for an operation on 13th April I was told to attend on the 12th at 4pm but to phone beforehand. I phoned at 12 noon, 3 pm, 5 pm and 7pm only to be told that someone will get back to you before 10 pm as we are waiting for a patient to go home. No one ever phoned me back and therefore I assume my operation is cancelled as I am still at home. I had to self isolate for 14 days prior to this and now don't know when I shall be rescheduled for. I lost 2 weeks work isolating and all for nothing. For a new hospital the patient / staff relationship is beyond poor. What happens now? I don't know.
