Review of King George’s - Accident & Emergency
25th April 2024

I was in so much and ask a few times for pain relief and I never received any. It was very difficult and my pain scale was 10 out of 10.

Suggested improvements
The doctor could have communicated more and better, he was very vague! Listen to me more when I asked for pain relief

Care was prompt and efficient, however communication and explanation was missing. Felt like I had to ask for everything…

Suggested improvements
It would be nice to have a bed to lie down when feeling weak and unwell not to sit on the chair for 12 hours on IV drips

After reviewing my assessments, the doctors knew I was not well and in a serious condition. They went all out of for me and prioritised me to be seen as quick as possible.

I been in hospital in waiting area chair from 5:41pm till next morning 6:30am with out any full informations. I ask them send home due lake of help and laying and sitting whole night on waiting area chair.i have to remind them for my X ray by my self which I been told taking 9:41pm but no one called me then I have to ask them about doctor.all staff was absolutely nice but lady on other reception was totally rude when ever ask questions in nice way.blood test was not taken in nice way got bruising on both arms as well not look professional. Also if they don’t have full staff they should tell to penitent correctly so they can go to another place.

Suggested improvements
More staff , Give training to staff how to handle and speak in all situations. Also time management

All members of staff that I came in contact with treated me with kindness & compassion under difficult conditions. Felt extremely safe with the security guards patrolling the department at all times.

Suggested improvements

From the time my 93 year old mother was brought in to when she was discharged we experienced an institution that is truly broken. Lack of communication both with patient's NoK and inter departments within the hospital. Spoken to by staff who gave the impression they were inconvenienced by questions asked e.g why is my mum still in pain ? answer we have a language barrier with your mum. This despite my mum crying out in pain. You truly are a number when you enter hospitals, once they 'think' they have treated you then as far as they are concerned you are taking up a valuable bed space. As a relative of a patient you have to push for answers to the most basic questions. Which brings me on to experience of staff, it was very clear that this is lacking in the areas it desperately needs.

Suggested improvements
Communicate with carers and relatives, show care and make sure your left hand knows what your right hand is doing. It's that simple.
