My 91 year old mother was being assessed. All staff were very kind and gentle with her, even though they were under pressure.,

Suggested improvements
No. That’s down to the government. They need to pay more and employ more.

Was sent by my GP with my MRI report which I found that I have a fractured lower back I had a fall two months ago I thought it was bruised I have Servre pain very uncomfortable and kept seeing my GP who then later arranged for urgent mri on finding I was shocked as a 51 year lady who has had slipped disc in the past I went to hospital sat for 4 hrs not good for my tail bone I was told by the DR why did my gp send me and nothing can be done and kept me waiting till I said I need to do a school run then he came back saying the Othopaedic said go back to gp and can’t do anything and walking is good so I emailed my gp will be seeing him next week to discuss and I will be looking into this nhs service I also found the staff behind the reception abrupt and I was then guided by the security guard as I walked in to go to reception because I had registered so I was standing she looked are you waiting I said yes I have registered she said you go straight through those doors I said security asked if I registered I said yes so you need to tell him not to send patients this way but through those doors she then said it’s not my job to tell him I just looked at her I thought you carry on talking to your colleague who both were chatting to the handyman and laughing away I’m shocked when people say nhs staff are so busy it ridiculous sitting on the chair not acknowledging a patient all giggling away keep it up

Suggested improvements
You can’t change a person they are who they are no customer service no manner how to talk not knowing the pain and time one will experience My last visit I had to hear the reception staff make fun openly about a patient who just asked how long do I wait and so rudely said go there and ask them I was shocked why the hell you come to work and how you get away with it

The junior doctors were on strike. I was seen by consultants who were excellent. I could not have received better treatment.

I went to A&E at 3.25 pm, I was seen very quickly by triage staff, however, the rest of my experience was awful. I was told that tests would only be ab hour or so, but blood test and CT scan took hours and the results for the CT scan i didn’t get until 3.30am the next morning. I was sat on a hard chair, in corridor, the nurse kept telling me i would get results in a minute, but i didn’t get them until hours later when i threatened to leave. I was then advised i would have to be admitted. I was asked to sit on a bed that wasn’t cleaned, only tissue paper was put on it. I was advised that i would be transferred by ambulance to queens in the next hour. I was left on the bed with no cover or sheet, freezing. Only when the new staff came in in the morning did a lovely nurse put a sheet on the bed and gave me pillows and blankets and made me comfortable. I was not transferred to queens until .around 10.30. I was sat awake all that time. There was no communication about what was wrong with me or test results until 12 hours after entering the hospital and even then i was just left uncomfortable waiting to be transferred until the new nurses came in the next day. It was a horrible experience !

Suggested improvements
Better communication, be honest about waiting times, although it wasn’t even busy when I went into A&E at first. If a person is going to be admitted, at least make that person comfortable so they can at least they and sleep, we feel awful enough, without sotting on a hard chair all night and then a bed with just plastic mattress!
