Review of Minor Injuries Unit - Doncaster Royal Infirmary
18th April 2024

Second visit within the week for the same head/neck injury. The first visit we waited 7 hours to actually be seen for approximately 3 mins! No scan offered (head and neck injury)?? 2nd visit we saw Bernice in urgent care who was fantastic and very thorough and immediately said she would like my daughter to have a CT scan on her head and neck

Suggested improvements
Yes! Waiting times are obscene! The smoke and mirrors of going through the double doors to have lid pressure checked are purely to improve your stats to say people were not sat in waiting rooms!

Hardly any wait time once seated, doctor was very good, spoke clearly & directly explained what she was doing & why,.

Suggested improvements
A shorter wait time once I had been referred or an option to attend canceled appointments on short notice, I did ring up & ask but this wasn't an option.

Review of Emergency Department A&E - Doncaster Royal Infirmary

With 9 hour wait, I had a nurse in front of me refer to me as her. I was spoken to very rudely by the nurse staff. I asked a number to times how long my wait was going to be and at every point I was met with rudeness, told I was next even though I ended waiting 9-10hours to be seen by the doctor. The nurse I'm question. Average height, black hair and fake large lashes wearing blue scrubs. When walking into the room with the doctor, she stood facing me and said to the doctor "tell her (referring to myself) when your done with her tell her she needs to go back to the other waiting room" I was standing right next to the nurse and the doctor while this was said. She could have spoken to me directly or reffered to me by name. That hurt my feelings. I felt degraded. I was there as I was in pain and worried about a large mass on my chest and instead of being treated with kindness and compassion, I was treated with redness and disregard. She was so abrupt I refused her as a chaperone with the doctor because I didn't want to be treated by her any further. Further to this happening i was left by the doctor in the treatment room, he advised I could wait there untill he sorted some bits. While waiting I popped out of the treatment room and said goodbye to someone I knew who was still waiting in the red waiting area. Within a minute i returned into the room, a male nurse wearing blue scrubs and female student nurse with grey uniform followed me in and rudely questioned me why i ran into the room. I explained, im a 36 year old woman and not a child, i did not run into the room, and i followed the doctors instructions. The student nurse left to check if i was telling the truth and came back and said the doctor says you can wait in the waiting room. I asked them for their names as I was not happy with how they have all treated me and they refused. They were quite smug about it. I believe as i refused the female nurse with false lashes as my chaperone as i told the doctor i didnt like the way she referred to me. She didn't like this and her colleagues started to be rude because of this. It felt like i was ganged up on which was quite concerning To ensure you locate this nurse as three different nurses refused to give me any names for my complaint. I entered A&E 17/04/2024 22.09pm. I entered care initiation red waiting area after booking in with the reception staff. This incident happened between 4-5am. The doctor was very nice and understanding with me and the lady at the front desk who helped give me the information to write this. I would like this complaint made formal and the staff members investigated as I left the hospital crying because there was not any reason to be treated so disrespectfully and without any compassion.8

Suggested improvements
This to be investigated and taken seriously. The staff member to investigated into their behaviour and subsequent action taken

Had someone drive into the back of my car. Went with my children to be checked out at A +E. Only to be told by older female receptionist that for a Whiplash claim I don't need to be seen by anyone in A+E. Absolutely disgusted. I still waited pver 4 hours with my children to be checked over. The Nurses/ Doctors/ Healthcares were all amazing.

Suggested improvements
As above.

Review of Theatre Admissions Unit (TAU)
17th April 2024

This is the second time I have been on theatre admissions, the staff are just amazing, friendly, attentive and approachable. You are not treated as a patient, you are treated as your own person. They are kind and caring and nothing is toi much trouble. The ward itself is well equip and very pleasant. Thank you to all the staff during my stay especially Carly who showed so much support and care. You are all a fantastic team and make the experience much more bearable
