I feel it's extremely important for staff to make sure they are calling you by the correct name. This shows competence from the staff and respect to the patient. It's also important that the staff read the notes to make sure they know you have allergies. This was a repeated mistake when I had my operation and they kept asking about a drug I'd already stated to be allergic to. This was a huge concern for me. Rooms should be cleaned in enough time prior to the patient checking in for their operation. I had to wait 20 minutes for my private room and the floor was dirty. The staff had clearly only changed the bedding whilst I waited in the corridor. This put me off. I feel both clinicians and the hospital admin staff should make sure they know when the doctors are attending to avoid patients waiting. The booking system is not adequate as I was waiting on two separate occasions when doctors don't turn up and on the first occasion the staff weren't notified by the doctor's secretary he's gone away and the second was the staff hadn't notified the doctor she had patients that day. As the patient you receive a text to confirm your appointment but you have no way of knowing if the doctor will be there when you reach the hospital. I waited 1 hour the first time even though they'd ticked my name off their list. The receptionist didn't even know if the doctor was in the building. The second time I waited 30 minutes and it was then clear within 45 minutes that the doctor wouldn't be attending.

On the 29 May 2014 I was admitted to Claremont Hospital, Sheffield for spinal surgery but prior to that I had visited Claremont on several occasions for consultation with Mr Marcel Ivanov (Consultant Neurosurgeon) MRI scan and Pre-op assessment. Every single person who came into my room was charming, friendly and treated me with the utmost respect. Prior to surgery obviously I was nervous, two most friendly and charming nurses (theatre staff) took me up to surgery. Back from surgery I was pampered, always made sure I had sufficient pain relief. The meals were amazing, catering staff didn't just bring my food in and dump it, they always made sure I was sat up comfortable and could reach it without any problems. I could have hot/cold drinks any time I wanted. The biscuits were amazing. The nursing staff were just brilliant. One nurse noticed from my wrist band it was my birthday 2 days before and wished me happy birthday. It's little things like this that make it special and that they care. Special mention to Emily. She is the most charming and amazing nurse I have ever met. Physio came to see me and advised me what I could do or not again she was charming. The assistants, domestic staff always made sure my room was nice and clean and had everything. I had Room 7 looking into the gardens, brilliant. The Director of nursing even came to see me to see if everything was alright with my stay. All I can say is I was treated like a star. I have been in other private hospitals, this beats them all. I was only in for 24 hours, the care and everything was great the only comment I have would have been a little more information on what meals would have provided and the procedure on ordering other than that I have only praise for the hospital, staff and after care. Jacqueline Illingworth

Claremont Hospital is wonderful, it was like being cared for in a luxury hotel. The staff were so attentive and very professional. I would have no hesitation recommending the hospital to anyone.

My hospital stay was brilliant it was like being in a hotel!! I didn’t want to go home!! The nurses were all lovely and helpful, I'm so happy with the end result everything I asked for! Felt at ease during the whole procedure and would recommend the hospital and Mr Lam for anyone who is thinking of surgery!

Very pleased with claremont's hospital and all the staff. Everybody was great, I don't have a bad comment to say about it, it's all good and would recommend it to anyone. Keep up the good work and thank you for making me feel very at ease
