I was impressed with all aspects of the care i received from the moment i entered the ward till the moment i left.
I underwent interventional radiology at Castle Hill Hospital for the insertion of a left ureteric stent. The sight of eight or nine staff in lead aprons was a bit disconcerting and the equipment looked a little intimidating. The procedure appeared straightforward (I had researched it beforehand) and minimally invasive. The consultant in charge even showed me a ureteric stent as I had expressed some interest. Fortunately the stent was in place at the first attempt and the procedure was painless.
Back on the ward (32), I was told I could expect some blood in the urine which should clear up in 48 hours. Unfortunately in my case it took seven days before the urine was clear necessitating an unexpected longer stay in hospital. That said, the nursing care was as usual exemplary as was the care and advice received from the Clinical Oncologist Dr Roy. Apart from some back pain, I have suffered no other consequences of the procedure.
A great efficient service all round my thanks to all the staff
The nursing team on the day unit are just fantastic from the receptionists, the pharmacists, the volunteers, the consultants right through to the nursing team. My mum is on her fourth cycle of chemotherapy and each time she attends the day unit the staff are amazing. Despite being extremely busy, they take the time to explain and listen! and nothing is too much trouble. The day unit works like clockwork with the staff working as a team to ensure that each patient is seen in a timely manner and treated with dignity and respect. We can't praise them enough. They are caring, respectful, friendly, efficient and hard working.
My surgeon was Mr A Kotwal.
He carried out a mastectomy & breast reconstruction
The operation was a great success.
The nursing care I received was wonderful, with extremely thoughtful & caring staff.
I was in my own room, with en suite facilities, which I couldn't fault.
I would certainly recommend Castle Hill Hospital & Mr Kotwal.
Every one at the hospital where really nice and nothing was any trouble. The care was brilliant.
THIS TIME I WAS IN WARD 14 IT WAS MUCH BETTER EXPERIENCE THAN LAST TIME
IN 2015 WHEN HAVING MAJOR CANCER SURGERY THE INTENSIVE CARE WAS GREAT.
HOWEVER WHEN TRANSFERRED TO WARD 14 IN OWN ROOM,CARE WAS LACKING,A FEW FOREIGN NURSES WERE NOT THE BEST TO UNDERSTAND AND NOT ALWAYS AS NICE AS SHOULD BE. ALSO LEFT YOU AGES AND NOT REAPONDING TO BELL OR ASKING FOR HELP.
THINGS WERE A LOT BETTER THIS TIME.
I was looked after very well with care by Holly and Chris who were very friendly, and I was treated with privacy, and nothing was too much trouble, and had everything explained to me. I was given exercises that where gentle and followed through, and helped me to control pain after dislocation of my arm from the shoulder. I am now fully recovered. Many thanks the NHS are great and do a truly good job.
Wonderful staff, nothing too much trouble, explained everything very clearly, extremely well looked after. Ward very nice, food was excellent. Particular staff who were part of the above were Bev, Jackie, Dane, sorry can't remember the others but EVERYONE was excellent. Staff from the surgical waiting area of urology who completed the details and explained everything prior to surgery went to great lengths to ensure that I understood what was to happen and certainly put me at my ease. They were Jenny, Judy and Carol and the Registrar. No suggestions to improve the care as to me this is as good as it gets already! Can't understand anyone who could be negative about the care. Well done NHS.
Nice, clean environment, no waiting time, friendly and helpful staff. Nothing more to ask.
