Today I had a no-scalpel vasectomy performed by Dr Speers and his associate, along with another nurse who were all, in equal measure, absolutely amazing. They all made me feel at perfect ease and although I personally (everyone is different, I know) felt a fair amount of pain due to a low threshold, I was made to feel as comfortable as humanly possible (and, I'm told by the wife, a significant amount of anaesthetic, thankfully) and my wife being allowed to sit by me whilst it was happening was another nice thing. We were even offered cake by the very polite and professional young gentleman at reception. A massive thank you to all who helped me and I will be highly recommending the Tollgate clinic to others. May I also say how very reasonably priced (345GBP) the whole procedure was. Kind regards, Mark.

I cannot fault the doctors at the surgery who are helpful and thorough and have supported me and my family over many years. I do think the patient contact for the surgery could be improved. I have often been sitting on hold for ten - fifteen minutes waiting for my call to be answered; often only to check if prescriptions are ready to be collected. It would be a good idea for there to be a text message system for patients so once a prescription is ready we could get a text letting us know and also where the prescription is as often I have been told it is at a pharmacy only to find it is still at the surgery. the staff at Tollgate are all very helpful, friendly and polite.

I've been a patient at the Tollgate Practice in Colchester for close to 7 years now and for the most part I'm satisfied with the service received from the doctors and medical team I see. My frustration comes from dealing with the reception staff. I am absolutely disgusted by the current level of customer service from the reception team when visiting the Tollgate Practice. They completely ignore any patient, until they feel they are ready, without any sign of acknowledgement that the patient is there. Nothing a simple "Sorry, I'll be with you in one moment" wouldn't solve. Instead patients are just ignored entirely! I strongly feel that it should be made clear to the receptionist staff that they are being employed to provide a service, not volunteering - and as a result should take the customer service aspect far more seriously.

I had an appointment with Dr. Marshall this morning, who was just fantastic! What a lovely young woman. She was professional, caring and thorough in her job. I presented her with a list of ailments for a young person that I care for, and she took the time to effectively work through each ailment. This is not the first time I have experienced this level of terrific care. As a carer, I often work with challenging young people, and I recall an appointment with Dr. Best, where, despite a waiting room full of patients, she took the time to get specialized care for my young person. This is the way all GP's should work - thank you so much for providing a fantastic level of care and support within our community, it is very much appreciated.

For the most part I'm satisfied with the service received from the Tollgate Practice. My frustration comes when dealing with the reception staff. I'm disgusted in the current level of customer service when dealing with the reception. From my own experience, and from what I've seen first hand when dealing with other patients, whenever I approach the reception desk I am usually ignored by the member of staff until they feel as though ready. I'm not even given the politeness of a "Please bear with me, I'll be with you in one moment", just ignored completely. I feel as though it needs to be made clear to the receptionist staff that they are being employed to provide a service - and as a result should take the customer service aspect far more seriously.
